Is it possibly to play Wow on 56k with little lag? I've played Diablo 2 and Starcraft and even Warcraft 3 online and they weren't that bad. I was just wondering how laggy WoW would be on 56k?

Any Online game is "OK" when played with less characters or activities on the screen. The more people in your screen = the more downloading/uploading of instructions to/from the game server; most of the time dial-up isn't enough for that. Don't expect it to be playable during large raids.

Dial-up should be suffice if your hunting or leveling alone. But still has slow reaction rate. You would experience a low to medium lag. More if you start to see more people/monsters on screen.

Well of course a 56k modem was good for Starcraft and Diablo2, back then 56k was suitable for such low end games

If you want any fun online gaming, I'd say get 1mb broadband at least

Again it depends on your latency. Its somewhat useless to have a 15Mbps Broadband connection and having a high latency. There are two key factors , speed and latency.

You could define latency as 'how long it takes to tell Hi from your computer to the server'. The higher the latency the longer it takes for you to send the packet , thus causing a lag.

You could still play on 56k , but you will have to bear with the latency...It should be okay. Oh , yes....A latency of a Wireless Broadband [1Mbps] is not the same as a Cable/DSL Connection [1Mbps]. Thats why you dont see any gamers [hard-cores] that are using Satellite Broadband

    Latency Shmatency

1mb wireless will be fine. I used to play many games not too long ago that were more demanding than WoW on a cheapy wireless router (1mb broadband)
