I have just installed vista on my laptop, the original and burning crusade and whenever i try to run thr program, it will open up the launcher, download a 512k patch and then close. i can't get it to open up past the launcher.
here is what i am running
Inspiron 1520
Core 2 duo 2.2ghz
Nvidia 8400g (i know don't bring it up)
2 gigs of ram at 667mhz
160gig harddrive at 7200 rpm
vista home premium
can anyone tell me what is going on?

"Nvidia 8400g (i know don't bring it up)"
Know what? that for what your doing with it that's a perfectly fine video card?
Well first off I think the problem is that your playing WoW in the first pace... -
i have seen nothing but people ripping on the 8400 since i bought this so i was trying to head that off.
secondly, i know it is a disease and you will say play lineage and guild wars but i just got into pc gaming from console gaming a few months ago and wow popped my cherry. can you offer any insite? -
Nah, just wanted to tell you that the 8400m is an OK card for MMORPGs, and don't mind me, I'm fully against ALL MMORPGs, doesn't matter which one, and most people tell me that I just haven't played one so I can't say that, BUT I HAVE!
So no, I'd be the person telling you to quit WoW, all other MMORPG's and pick up CS:S, World in conflict, bioshock, Age of empires, etc.. just not MMORPGs! They killed half my family
murdered them! arrgg..

okay, so i am really really really new. i guess i have an 8600GT video card (at least that is what the computer says i have) but i thought i had an 8400g. so i guess i am okay for oblivion and all of that. now, i just installed half life 2 and was playing it for a minute and then it started skipping. do i need a different driver for HL2? and i am still getting the same problem when i try to run WoW
-
okay, now i have no idea what kind of card i have. my computer says 8600gt but then it says 16 stream capabilities or something. but the gt supposedly has 32. so how can i figure out what i have exactly, i dont have much expericence with vista
-
okay...so you have to run it as an admistrator...so weird...
-
When you open it up does it start downloading the exact same patch again? If not its because WoW comes out with a new patch every Tuesday if I remember correctly so you'll have to download all of them. If it just downloads the same one over and over again try running the program in Safe Mode.
-
Are you ready? If you have a firewall disable it and your problem is solved =]
-
yeah, i had to run it as an admin to make it download from patch 2.0.0 to 2.2.3.
so now that i found out i have the Nvidia 8600GT, will oblivion run well on my computer?
WoW problems please help!!!
