So i recently set up my laptop to run with my desktop screen, and all is working well.
In order to access the second monitor without alt+tabbing when playing WoW i have to run it in windowed mode (fullscreen).
I read about performance gains when running dx11 on WoW so i decided to try it out, and it looks like i get a performance boost.
(you add SET gxApi "d3d11" in your config.).
Well, now i'm experiencing screen tearing, aka no v-sync and i was wondering if this issue is only related to my ATI card (or perhaps dx11)?
I can't seem to find any information though.
I've tried re-enabling v-sync in WoW, also tried using d3doverrider and changed the settings in CCC. Doesn't matter if WoW is open on my secondary or primary monitor.
However, when running the game in fullscreen mode v-sync kicks in and no tearing to be found. The problem then is that i can't move my mouse to the other screen without having to alt+tab first, which kinda defeats the whole purpose.
I've played around with the settings but nothing seem to fix it. The problem seems to lie in running it windowed mode (fullscreen).
I haven't dabbled in changing drivers yet because i wanted to see if anyone could provide me with a fix first. Drivers i'm currently using is latest genetix modified (5.10).
Any help is appreciated!

Try turning off Aero by choosing a Windows 7 basic theme. It may be the compositing that is causing the tearing, the fact that the desktop and the game both want to use the graphics card. You may also try forcing vsync on in the drivers instead of just in-game.

Could d3doverrider, the game and CCC interfere with each other when forcing v-sync?
I keep CCC v-sync always on and also run d3doverrider when that wont work.
I've tried disabling/enabling v-sync in game and also disabled v-sync in CCC, leaving only d3doverrider on but no dice.
I was wondering if there's any reports of v-sync not working properly in other dx11 enabled games? specifically when playing in windowed mode.
I can't recall having issues with BC2 or AVP but then again i never tried playing in windowed mode.
[EDIT]
I should also mention that the dx11 setting in WoW is highly experimental and isn't really supported. Dx9 works flawlessly but doesn't perform as good as Dx11.
It's not a major issue but i wanted some insight from others, and hopefully a fix. -
I don't play WoW myself and I've never used d3doverrider so I'm just guessing. It could just be that you're running into an issue due to the fact that it's still experimental. Seems like you've tried everything sane.

I use d3doverrider with my 5870m, it works for me for the most part, games that I get really bad screen tear reduces it to a managable amount that it doesnt distract and games with very little it disapears. your 5870m is more than up to the task for wow so I can't say its tearing over that, you'll need to check what your monitor refresh rate is and make sure your vid card is set for it, screen tearing occurs when the 2 don't match, like if your monitor is only 60 but the game is running at 120 its too much for the screen and cant refresh tearing the frames. V-sync sets your freq. to that of your monitor I think, not for sure it may set to 60hz.

@Pitabred; Yeah most likely. I did however reinstall the latest official drivers. I figured it was worth a shot but nothing.
I did however get somewhat further in my testing. While running WoW in standard Dx9, CCC overrides the AA and AF settings just fine, as well as v-sync (that is, turn off AA/AF and v-sync in WoW and let CCC handle it).
However, in Dx11 CCC can't override the ingame settings. This makes me think that d3doverrider won't work as well when running WoW in Dx11.
I'm going to try create a profile in RadeonPro but i don't think it'll work.
I wonder if this is applicable to all Dx11 enabled games?
Disabling/enabling Cata AI doesn't seem to change a thing either, as suggested when searching around a bit.
@daranik; I know how v-sync works.
[EDIT]
Yeah RadeonPro didn't work either. If i had access to my desktop (gpu fried) i could've tried and see if it were a mobility issue.
I assume v-sync in WoW (Dx11 mode) works fine for nvidia/ati desktop owners since i can't find any complaints when searching about it.
If anyone has a desktop nvidia/ati or even a nvidia laptop that can run dx11 i would love if they could try out enabling dx11 in WoW and report back if v-sync works in windowed (fullscreen mode).
Thanks!
