Hey ive been having an issue with wow lately. Basically when im on the load screen or character screen my pc shuts down. If i can log in and get into the world intime its fine. Ive got approx 10 seconds to do this, if i dont then my pc shuts down. Problem is we also have a dodgy internet meaning i dc alot and meaning my pc shuts down alot. Its really annoying tbh -.- Btw the shutdown occurs as though my pc is overheating.
Secondly i get a different sort of shutdown. Basically this shutdown happens at random points when playing WoW. I get no warning besides some lag and then my pc slowly turns of. Ill emphasize slowly because this is a different type of shutting down than the first. Its not instant.
So yeh you can see my trauma lol. I have to put up with constant dcing, shutdowns on load screen and random shutdowns during the day. It also resets my addons everytime which is annoying.
Anyway sorry for the bulk of text but can anyone help me out?
Cheers.

What kind of laptop do you have and how old is it?
Are you overclocking your CPU/GPU?
Was there a recent WoW patch/update applied?
Have you checked the Blizzard forums or submiited a trouble ticket via your account? -
Sounds like a sign from the gods...
j/k
but it does sound like temperature problems, have you monitored your temps? -
ah sorry forgot to mention what laptop i have.
I have an M1530 with a 8600M GT DDR3 and 2.0ghz. I havent overlocked. This has been happening since 2 patches. Also ove made 3 topics about this but everytime no one has replied, hence me asking here.
Also there are no temperature problems. Im seriously confused as to how this is happening :/ -
what are the temps of your GPU when its in-game?
that is very important.
if its above 90C.... then thats why its shutting down... to prevent further overheating damage. -
Do you have the latest graphics card drivers from nvidia?
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-
Those 8600m GT's in the M1530 are very well known for overheating and failing, to the point that Dell gave them all extended warranty coverage.
-
ah i might give dell a another call then....this pc has screwed up 3 times now. Once i even had to replace the motherboard :/ and yes i have the latest drivers
-
Did you try Dox's drivers instead of stock drivers?
-
Dunno what those drivers are
But i installed the 32 bit drivers on the nvidia page.
-
Hmm its still happening, can someone tell me of the nvidia program that records temperatures?
WoW shuts down my computer!!!
