    I think i am addicted to WoW but anyway how does FXI compare? WoW is expensive but i spend 5x that at the bar, so its nothing to cry about. This game changed the way i look at games like diablo 2 and guild wars. I know this may appear to be a direct comparison but i never played FXI. What are the major differences, i would like somthing faster paced then WoW.

    WoW = World of Warcraft
    FFXI = Final Fantasy XI

    i like both, and play both. both offer different things..WoW is an easy game to pickup, nice PVP, too many raids to list, huge player base.

    FFXI is much harder IMO. its a hard game to pick up, but for those who stick with it, either love it..or hate it. very in depth crafting system, if you dont party, you will not get very far (you can solo, but it is pretty hard to do so).

    if i were you, buy the game for the $30 and test it for 30 days..if you like it..more play it over WoW..if not..go back to WoW..

    since you are looking for faster paced...ffxi is definitely not fast at all...

    WoW = me, wife, cousin, his friends (4-5), and a great guild.
    FFXI = me, my other cousin and a very nice linkshell

    deedeeman,

    Yes and yes! :p

    Jballa,

    I played FFXI when it first came out. I don't know if I would consider it faster paced, but more in-depth game. With the combos and stuff for extra damage it takes more cooperation than WoW.

    My suggestion would be to try it for a month. I mean buy it and use the free month you get and see what you think. :p

    I am sure this is going to be a heated discussion. :p

    This is an on-going flame war at many FFXI and WoW forums and it all ends up being player preference. FFXI is not fast-paced at all really, whereas WoW is, I think FFXI is harder and thus enjoy it more, others opinions may differ from mine. WoW's player-base is over 4x that of FFXI's, yet FFXI is the 2nd largest MMORPG there is, so it's still rather large.

    FFXI is a larger game, both in HD space consumed and actual gameplay, WoW is a much shorter game. It's one of the fastest MMOs out there, seeing as if you try you can get to end-game in a matter of weeks.

    Thanks for the insight fellas, i'm workin steady so i need to break from reality. Appreciate the breakdown as i'm sure it hard to compare them directly without mass objection. Final Fantasy 3 was awsome and i was just cruious if it was like a slower version of that but multiplayer. I'm not expecting so much as a chronotrigger online ***** good game* but i'm varied in my tastes. Tons of bangin multiplayer games, always more fun when millions of people are runnin around. One thing that annoys me is rolling for items in WoW, i always freakin lose. At least in diablo 2 whoever picks it up first gets it? Never fun rolling a 65 and lose to a 66 on epic gear hah. Warlock and rogue here, ready to dual it out with whoever thinks otherwise. -JB

    Oh man...so true...so true. Haven't hit epic gear, but some other casters that have great gear and I am stuck because they rolled higher LOL. :p

    You do it that way on FFXI too, some of the time, there are also other systems where you spend 'points' on it when it comes and basically it's auctioned off. The points being accumulated by participation, behavior, etc.

    It's really up to the people playing.
