I know WAR is going to get more votes than WoW, and I would not go back to playing (retail) WoW anyways.
But can we all share our thoughts about WAR from the beta, find some points that maybe you think WoW was better?
Answer questions for those of us (me included) that did not get to play beta to help us decide to buy.
So I'll start with a question. Hows the game play? Its very similar to WoW I can see but it looks like this game is much more PVP based and not PVE. I love PVP and Warcraft back in the day had it just the way I liked it (before battlegrounds and all the patches/changes) You would be in your town getting gear or crafting and suddenly the city was flooded with attacking enemies killing your npcs and every allied player in sight. I loved that as thats how real warcraft would be and the game was called "World of Warcraft" However they ruined it when they made it so that you cant do that.
That aside tho PVP was only a small portion of the game, I spent much more of my time dungeon crawling, crafting and questing. I liked the PVE aspect much more than the PVP and I want to know if WAR has a lot of quest and dungeons for those of us who want to put together a strategy and crawl thru some dungeons for money/levels/loot and just for the fun of it. I looked at PVP as something to do to kill time, not the main aspect of the game.
I personally hope to have many many hours/days of questing that I can do and hopefully much of it solo in case I dont have much time on my hands.
WAR looks like its WoW + Guild Wars --> And Guild Wars never stuck for me I played for a day and never played again.
So do you feel it has a dungeon variety and reward equal to that of WoW?
If I want PVP I go play FPS games.
Now for my observation, something I kind of don't like.
The game has 20 classes but it looks like each class has its own distinctive look, I don't really like that idea. So if you want to be a scantly clad robe wearing witch you will look totally different than the sword bearing person.
I like how WoW uses the same model for all classes and only your equipment will change how you look as thats more realistic. All people are equal just that you would equip yourself differently depending on your talents/professions.
So that means you can be a little mini gnome and be a warrior, but in WAR if your one of the fighting classes your going to look like one. Heck the ORC/Goblins I think it is, depending on your class your the big hulking orc or the little goblin. I like to have the option to be which ever I want and not have it class dependant. That also means and I am very sure of this, that there will be more classes for the ones that look "cool" and less for those who dont.
This can easily be seen from WoW where Night Elves out numbered everything, but atleast with that one model you could have several classes.
This also means that you many not be able to use a look you like just because you prefer another class.
So anybody agree?

To be honest, PvP got ruined after Arena was released. Now every class change that occurs is based on statistics and complains regarding PvP. Blizzard forgot about the other major part of the game, PvE.
I didn't look much into it but is WAR going to have a monthly subscription? -

Yeah .... Guild Wars is the only big/main MMORPG I know of that doesn't.

Yes, Harman there is a subscription fee. I feel that it's a lot like WoW in terms of questing and discovering areas for exp (I've been playing for a few hours so far, and there are a TON of solo quests you can do). PvP, specifically RvR is really fun, and I've had a chance to participate in 2 Scenarios (the ones I fought in were like capture-point matches, where you need to beat back the enemy and capture certain points and keep them to gain points), and I got OWNED in RvR designated areas.
As for classes, yeah they look really different... but I guess that's to go more with the Warhammer universe. Orks are the big brutes, while the goblins chose other, more non-physical jobs (repair slaves in 40k, haha). I really like how the big picture of the game is this huge war between the 2 sides, but there still seems to be a lot to do solo.
There's also this cool thing called Public Quests, where you'll walk into an area and have to complete an objective, like fighting back waves of Chaos, and then fighting a boss together with the others in that area.
There's also a lot of content in terms of stories and such. You have this book called The Tome of Knowledge, and you unlock chapters and stories in it about the world.
My dream MMO though... would be the WoW/WAR questing/discovery system so it's not constant grinding, WAR RvR, and FFXI combat. -
