sweet video, suprisingly good quality for a camera (first one ive seen that actaully took good video of a laptop gaming). looks fun i might actually get this. probably wait for the price to drop though :/
-
Thanks joshtor, yeah it´s quite fun. I will put up some screens of the game soon.
-
Nice and smooth! Is it a demo? Where did you get it
?
-
You can get Wolfenstein at Best Buy and you get a $10 gift card.
-
I had Wolfy in my hand about 30 minutes ago at my local electronics shop. Could not bring myself to cough up $60 (CDN) for the PC version. Probably will wait or maybe take advantage of Amazon's $8 off deal. Undecided even though I loved RtCW.
-
I got it from a friend who review games. He borrowed my laptop to review it on. I have got many games for free this way
-
wait... if i walk into the store and buy it i can get one or is it just online?
edit: if so i would get the game tomorrow. i have 25 bucks in reward zone money i need to spend anyway. -
I am about to go get it. looks good. cant wait to play it.
-
I'll check it out, I couldn't get enough of RTCW, online and off (that's it, right?)
This game is built off the ol' Doom 3 engine, yeah? It's an ID game, so I'd assume so. Should be well optimized and run smoothly on most machines. -
I'd like to know this as well. It appears as though this offer is only valid online though...
-
Nope, it's not online only...just walked out of Best Buy with Wolfenstein (49.99) and a $10 gift card...didn't even have to ask...when the cashier scanned it, the register told her to give me the gift card...no mess...no fuss...
My local Best Buy only had 8 copies of the game for the PC and they were a bit difficult to find (buried on the three shelves reserved for PC games at the back of the store) while the 360 and PS3 were right out in front as soon as you walked in...
And thanks for the video Magnus...I loved RtCW (my 2nd all-time favorite FPS after Duke Nukem 3D), but the last time that I paid full retail for a game, I got burned...your video convinced me to give it a try... -
Excellent. Thanks for the info.
-
No problem IwantMyTv a video says more than screenshots
-
nice! imma pick it up tomorrow. ill tell you guys how it runs on a low/mid range laptop. hmmmm...and i said i wouldnt pick up any more games till christmas. iz a liar yo.
ill save my card and the next 15 dollar gift certificate for cod 6....or batman -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
$60 CDN, seriously wth!?! Thanks for the vid Magnus it does look like fun, but I think CoD:WaW that I bought from Steam last week for $25 will feed my Nazi kiling itch for now. Wolfenstein can go on the wait for a deal list imo. This is not $60 title. :\
-
how's the online content of the game ?
I only buy games for the multiplayer, so if this one's good I'll pick it up tonite. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Well from what I have seen and read about the MP, you will not find anything new or cool in this. From IGN:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/101/1014821p1.html
With a big recent TF2 update and better MP in games you probably already own, I would skip this one or wait for a price drop. -
^^^This^^^
Even better would be to boycott Activision. Re: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=activision+increases+game+prices&btnG=Google+Search&=&aq=f&oq= -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Lol good luck with the boycott. But seriously... If this was SC2 I don't see anyone caring about the price hike. But a run-o-the-mill 6-8 hr shooter with tacked on MP, lol. I WISH WISH WISH Batman came out this week. Because it would leave Wolfenstein on the street begging for sales. In anycase I am not buying this game till it's at least 50% off. -
this is just another one of those things that leads to piracy. they know they have some great franchises and that causes them to think they can just slap thier consumers in the face. call of duty 6 is going to be $60 for pc and so are all the starcraft 2 games. all activision. im never gonna buy a game at 60 bucks. 50 i can deal with but i wont buy cod mw2 at 60, ill wait for it to hit 40, and im not gonna buy starcraft at all. (60 x 3 is 180, and thats not counting tax.)
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I'm with you joshthor $60 is over my budget. We still don't know if all 3 episodes of SC2 will be $60. If yes than that is a joke. But I suspect they will make the first one $60 and the other 2 will be $40.
-
Doesn't boycotting Activision mean i'd have to boycott Diablo 3? Sorry....I am weak, I just can't do it. But I will probably wait till RTCW is on the cheap or steam has a sale.
If starcraft 2 is really $60 each, I don't think I could pay $180 for all either
-
now that i think about it i wont get wolfenstien tomorrow, not saysing i dont want it. looking at the hype and the reviews its going to drop in price fast. ill get it when it is around 20-30 dollars. expecially since i dont wanna support activision now.
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I extremely doubt that the two Starcraft 2 expansions will be $60. (but even if they are, i would buy them).

Its EA they would Milk you for every dollar.
-
actually, it is activision who is publishing starcraft 2 which is appearently worse than ea. i mean sure, ea releases very cookie cutter games, but at least after a year most of their games drop to 20 dollars. its been almost 2 years and activisions cod4 is still at 40 dollars for pc.
-
its pretty good, plays very very well
worth the money
-
I haven't had 6-8 hours to finish it yet...but I'm pleased with what I've played so far (unlike my last PC game purchased on day of release)...$50 with a $10 gift card coming back didn't seem so bad...
I do have plenty of other games to finish, but I loved RtCW...I love id and I love Raven...I'll gladly support them...now publishers are a different story...and the once greats, Activision (anyone own a 2600 back in the day?) and EA (anyone own a C64 back in the day?) are now the nemesis of all gamers...and deservedly so...
I have no idea about MP in Wolfenstein...haven't done MP gaming since Unreal Tournament (despite owning Demigod and TF2)...and don't feel like I'm missing much...
But the single player campaign has the deliciously over-the-top cheesy story combining everyone's favorite and undeniably bad guys (Nazis) with the occult and sci-fi (neither of which appear in CoD)...the opening movie sequence is typically Raven cool...(what other developer could make a credible story out of all the goofy characters in the Marvel multiverse?)...and then you're off to shooting within seconds...a nod to Half-Life 2 (start on a train) and CoD (planting explosives) and the physics engine even shows cracks in the concrete after detonating explosives...
I'll probably finish it tomorrow, and unlike Space Siege, I won't regret the money spent...
And yep, I'm excited about Arkham Asylum, but as mentioned, that will be next week (and I like Eidos even less than I like Activision)...which gives me plenty of time to finish Wolfenstein... -
I went to my local hastings and bought the one copy they had it was 50 bucks. Installed but haven't played yet. Going to play on my aw m17 and my hp firebird can't wait.
-
anybody seen a review for this game yet?
-
Gamespy has a preliminary review.
It's kinda weird that no one has reviews up and the game has been released... -
No, it's good in the store too. I picked it up today and got a $10 gift card instantly.
-
Yeah, I don't like the comments about the "veil". Basically you play the game through "green-scale" vision. Super vision and powers mind you, but still, to have it all "green-scale" 90% of the time is a little absurd. As much as I love the Splinter Cell games, that was always my complaint. Very often used night-vision and lose the beauty of the game.
-
Gamesradar has a review up. 8/10 seems average for the PC version at the moment.

Gaming Trend gave this game a 9/10
Not Bad. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
This game has "safe" written all over it. I mean I know I will enjoy it because it is safe. It is going to be a solid shooter with some cool sci-fi, supernatural nazi a55-kickin action. But that doesn't make it a $60 CDN game imho. Not when you can get the same fun from any weekend deal on Steam or a rummage through the bargain bin.
I believe I posted the link back on page 2.

Thanks for helping out the lost souls, lol. -
That's the impression I'm getting as I play right now. The more and more I use the 'veil', the slightly more annoying it becomes......however there were things about RTCW I didn't like as well, so I think it'll all be a wash and perfectly 'safe' in the end
-
I played it a bit earlier. It runs great, so no worries there. I played it on max settings with 50% anisotropic filtering at my native res(1680x1050) with no problems. Oh, and I'm on a 9800m GT.
Graphics are nice enough with decent particle effects, but I doubt this is one of those games that will continue to look good years down the road ala Half-Life 2.
I haven't had to remap any of the keys yet(though I always map grenades to my mouse), so it's pretty intuitive to jump right into. At least for me anyway. I know everyone has their own preferences for controlling these things, just so happened this one was already set up just how I like it.
One thing I don't like about the control, however, is looking around with the mouse. It turns quicker when you look from left to right than it does when you look up and down. I dunno, that just bugs me.
I do like the realistic way your character moves though; for instance, when climbing a ladder it seems like you're actually climbing the ladder, rather than just sorta docking with it and then gliding up or down it as is the case with most FPSs. If that makes sense.
The cinematics are wonky as hell, and even manage to look choppy regardless of high frame rates. I also don't like the menu system, it seems a tad convoluted. Minor complaint, though.
Overall I've enjoyed it thus far. I'd still recommend you wait until it's cheaper. -

Is the single player any good?
-
played it a little last night, although it isnt bad its not super either having played it for abit, had to turn vsync on as it suffers from really bad tearing if you have a powerful system.
Looks just like Doom3 to me no matter how much they say they have modified the engine, this game should have had a new engine imo -

I was thinking about picking this one up, but after seeing some of the video's it seems like it's too much of your typical run and gun shooter with 0% re-playability value.
-
Yeah, it does have that shiny texture look of Doom 3. I bought it, still haven't installed it. I don't know if it will be better for nostalgia than anything else. We'll see.
-
Is there a demo of this??
-
Pretty good and fun, not worth it´s high price though. Glad to see more guys have played the game
-
This game is pretty awesome... Well so what if the main reason is because it maxes out on my 8800m gts and T5550... 1440x900 All settings as high as they go...
btw, 1440x900 is my native res lol... -
I really like it. very uniqe game. I ll try to write up a review of it but its gonna be really hard as I cant sum up the game in 2 words. lol.

I liked the game too. It was quite fun to play and waiting for some thrilling and scary moments like in return to...
