Whew. I believe it's my personal best. I got 177 points in the Blue Pearl map (new with patch 1.5) in Battlefield 2. I played mainly as support with the PKM, and two squads of 4 or 5 people kept running in a tight formation right by me and I kept mowing them down. LOL. I don't know why they didn't try to flank me. I would have been toast. But I got 5 or 6 kills with each pass. LOL.

Anyhow, small achievement, but in my life ATM, it's the little things that matter to me most... just thought I'd share. Better to have a "WOO HOO" post than whining I guess.

    Well done. :D

I am so awful at BF2...I don't think I have ever gotten more than 10 points in a single round. :p

Well, I've got nearly 600 hours in the game. Whew.

    http://www.bf2s.com/player/41007624/

But it's taken me since its release to get there. Not too bad for 4.5 years of playing! Plus, nice thing is no monthly fees compared with all these other WoW type games. What a crock. I paid $50 for release day BF2, I think $30 for Special Forces, and $20 for the two expansions that now come free with patch 1.5. So $100 for 4.5 years of play isn't so bad.

Plus, BF2 is a bit ping biased. As long as your ping is under 75 you can do fairly well. Mine is usually under 60. Otherwise over 100 it can become a little troublesome and frustrating.

Did you update Punkbuster. Go to http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php and download pbsetup and select Battlefield 2 and then update.

Dunno for sure but worth a shot.

The game has obviously changed a lot.

Back when it first came out, I got a 50 pt round, and everyone on the server thought I was hacking.

Combination of tank and arty on the large city map. I can't remember the name of it now. The USMC started out at the end of a long road and the MEC was defending flags arranged like a lowercase r.

I used to get a ton of kills as support gunner camping out in stairwells and stuff with my PKM just mow down people and lob a grenade now and then.

    I like support for infinite ammo/grenades :D

Have you tried BF 2142? At first I was not sure if I liked it more or not, it was a strange move but after getting used to 2142 it became my new standard multiplayer shooter and I liked it more than BF2.

I guess we should both keep our eyes peeled for the new BF2 Bad Company game.

I've been playing the Forgotten Hope 2 BF2 mod alot lately. It's so addicting, yet so unforgiving too lol :p

And yes to all those who are wondering, BF2 is still indeed kicking both on the normal game front as well as the plethora of great mods like Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality which add their own unique dimensions to the basic game. If you have BF2 check them out! That's an order! Another great mod if you want some great single player action is the AIX mod, which is pretty much BF2 in a more arcade style manner. Also this mod is made to have the number of AI players tweaked. You can run as many AI opponents as your system can handle. On my laptop's Core 2 Duo P8400, I could run 80 AI opponents quite nicely without slow down. That's pretty impressive considering the game is using a single core.

I tried 2142 but I just couldn't get into it. For one, I like "realistic" modern weaponry. I know it's not truly realistic, but I can relate to what it does. One thing that really bugs me about 2142 is that you basically need an upgrade to run more than 10m. It's stupid. If you're a military guy, shouldn't you be able to run quite a ways before tiring, which is represented decently in BF2. I may give it a shot later, since I've pretty much acquired all medals and weapons, just have some ribbons to get, which some are near impossible, and don't care to waste my time.

Now would be a hard time for a complete noob to get into BF2 though. There's so many seasoned players online. I remember when it first came out so many people were afraid to fly. Good for me because I flew all the time. Then I took a leave from it for about five or six months, came back, and all of a sudden there were lots of people that were awesome in the chopper and planes. Plus they tend to hog them all the time now too.

Yeah, I've gotten 299 in Karkand... some maps are easy to score in. I'm more proud of my 2.1 K/D ratio. :D

Wow, how do you all get so much time to play?
I've only been playing for about 2.5 years, but only logged a bit over 100 hours, and a high score of only 150ish...yeah I'm not particularly good...
    Here's my stats: http://bf2s.com/player/82703720/

EDIT: I usually only play medic.

BF2's weapons are far from realistic and the devs admit this as a sacrifice for gameplay, as for movement, any military proponent will tell you how laugh-worthy seeing a solder run at full-tilt with an SRAW (and 4 invisible ones) strapped to his back. Although speaking as one of the best AT'ers in the game, I am glad it's this way.

Anywho, now infact would be a best time to start playing as a noob since the recent 1.5 update has brought in a reflux of new players. Also don't worry so much about ribbons/points/ranks, after even your 200th star the numbers stop mattering.

Just plan your upgrades properly. You rank up fairly quickly at first and get more unlocks. But later, it can take ages to rank up, and if you didn't choose on weapon you wish you had, it can be quite some time.

I unlocked both sniper rifles and both Spec Ops guns, and I think one of the Assault guns as well. These days, if I play at all, it's mostly Medic though.

I had to delete some posts in here. Everyone please be considerate of how others may react when reading certain statements. With improper wording, opinions can seem much more inflammatory than they are intended to be. Lets keep the gaming forum fun, as we all prefer it to be.

I'm having fun, except I got my butt kicked last night in BF2. Back to my normal crappy playing again I guess.
