Looks like there will be a Tom Clancy's HAWX PC demo available for download on Monday!

Cool. Been looking for a game like this on the PC for a while. Hope they don't mess it up!

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
will be getting this!!!
will it be on steam?
the game looks great -
Yes, it will be on Steam. You can pre-order, but can't preload
-
yeah, it's on Steam, and if you pre-order you get Blazing Angels free.
played the demo on 360, is actually pretty fun... pure arcade type action shooter, similar to Ace Combat series, but really fun. Does have a different take on what's called "unassisted mode" which takes a bit of getting used to the camera mode, but a fun game none the less. Don't look for much realism, and should be good to go.
As a side note, actually having fun with Blazing Angels... runs great on my tablet and still looks good. Same type thing, action shooter much more than any type of realism, but very fun. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i think i will try the demo before deciding if im going to buy it
but it does look good and we will see

Yeah, the demo was originally scheduled for release last Thursday but they delayed it till Monday.
I have preordered this game but I have a few concerns, hopefully the demo will either absolve those concerns or reinforce them, leading to my cancellation of my preorder.
My concerns:
1. No cockpit view mode with assistance turned off. Basically, what assistance does when on is help you do maneuvers to avoid missiles and prevents you from stalling this plane, this bit of automatic help has the disadvantage of making your plane more sluggish overall. When off you have a lot more control over your plane but you are restricted to a far off, cinematic third person view.
2. No functioning HUD/Gauges while in cockpit mode.
3. Unrealistic, fake airspeed system.
4. No takeoff/landing or ejection, while this does not bother me as much, it would have been nice and would have added a bit more depth to the game.
P.S. The H.A.W.X. demo for the Xbox 360 and PS3 are out, although I myself would get this game for the PC. -
I played the demo on x360 and it kinda annoyed me that if you tried to pull a cobra horizontally you'll invariably end up in a stall... And the joke about the stall recovery: stay level and add power..WHAT? The real life recovery method for a wing stall is stick forward, and power up... Even Ace got that part right... Well I'm still looking for the demo on pc to see how well it works with a joystick.
-
I'm not sure what they were thinking about the cockpit mode and why you HAVE to have assist mode on. You don't have any advantage from the cockpit view, so I don't know why it would matter.
No takeoff/landing or ejection is lame too. Would be great to be able to do some carrier catapult launches, or scrambles as your airfield is under attack. But I won't pass judgment until I play the demo/game. I pre-ordered on Steam, and hopefully I don't regret it. -

Newegg just automatically canceled my preorder due to insufficient quantities...
-
Go with Steam, no insufficient quantities there! LOL.
-

Ace will still rain as king though.
Either way im interested in trying ths out i have xbox live but i think id rather wait for the pc version. -
i saw the trailer, the most unrealistic modern flight sim ever, is it even a flight sim?
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
well it isnt a flight sim but its hard to beat flight Sim X in that respect.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
It's not a flight sim, they said that early on. Although there will be multiplayer options to make it more sim like (limited missiles etc)..
edit: I ordered it from Amazon.
I would buy it off STEAM, but my 1.5mbps won't do me justice when I have to download all of my STEAM games. -
Heh, neither is any of the Ace Combat games! That brings back memories on the PS2 and then the PSP...
-
Ace doesn't pretend to be realistic and don't take itself seriously... I still can't stomach the stall recovery recovery method and the fact that the cobra and kulbit can only be pulled vertically... I'm a simmer, I'll have a really hard time with this game...
-
The map on the HUD annoyed me a lot, I hope you can actually make it smaller.
Dam I'm traveling tomorrow :|. -
Finally, I've been waiting for a game like this. Thanks!
-
well that's okay then.
are you saying the game has unlimited missiles by default? -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Not unlimited, but you do have a very large amount of missiles (takes a few seconds before you can fire salvos). Although, if you didn't have unlimited missiles, it would be a pain the in the rear to have to land and rearm after engaging six targets. -
lol, seems to be a fun game.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I agree, although there are a few things that need to be worked out. One of them is cockpit view with assistance off and fully working HUD/cockpit instruments while in cockpit view.
I've already set a target score for reviews, if the game gets anything less than a 7.5, 3/5, <75%, etc. I will cancel my preorder. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i wont be basing my purchase decision on reviews, if i like the demo then i will get the game - cant judge if you like a game based on someone elses views on it
-
I was looking forward to a decent flight game on the PS3, but it looks like this game is no Ace Combat.
-
what about graphics?are they good?
-
I've been interested in this game since I saw it on Steam. Anyone think you can play it with a keyboard and mouse? I know I know, blasphemy.....
I haven't usually been heavy into flight sims, or flying games in general, but this one looked interesting. -
This game is tons o' fun on PS3 for an Ace Combat vet like myself. I like its differences as well, the Assistance Off gameplay is fantastic. Picking off enemy aircraft with missile locks while in a flatspin stall is epic.
And simmers need not apply. This is even a slight bit more arcade-like than Ace Combat, and if you can't handle that you'll hate it. -
Just reminding you guys that tom clancys hawx is comming out tommrow, the demo. I just wanted to start a thread about it.
Will my ati mobility radeon hd 3450 run it. MOderator please dont move this thread to the can you run it thread.
Thanks Guys -
OMG this just made my day. +rep for you.
-
somebody beat you to it

Snag a 360 pad, it'll play great with that!
-
I loved the Ace Combat games, I still play them (especially on PSP) from time to time
I'm really glad a game of similar format is coming out for PC
Can't wait, when is the full release BTW
800th post w00T w00t
-
Yep
And there is a more detailed discussion going on there -
Is that some kind of joke? Or were the threads combined, because you linked to the same thread, lol.
I think they were combined.... -
Yeah, I was thinking of either picking up a USB converter for an Xbox controller or doing the mod myself...
They have a joystick locally though, but it's a Logitech... I haven't heard good things about Logitech joysticks. The Attack 3. -
They were combined, but they weren't when anothergeek and I posted
-
Can you imagine if they somehow ported or created a PC Ace Combat game? I'd rush out and buy it instantly regardless of the fact that I don't have a joystick.
-
I'd get in the blink of an eye, and I have a 360 controller so even better
-
Free Falcon 5 was just launched, and I'm supposed to go after an arcade flying game? No way!
-
I remember looking at hawx in november going awesome. but its too far away. then I forgot about it until now. woohoo. now to decide if i want it on pc or xbox 360
-
Will it run on a ati mobilty radeon hd 3450 256mb?
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
If it has at least 128mb of dedicated memory, then yes. Preferably, you want at least 256mb of dedicated memory, although I'm unsure if the 3450 is fast enough to benefit from such an amount.
-
I hear ya, but my time is limited these days. Long gone are the six to eight hour sessions with Falcon or Comanche-Hokum. I get an hour or two max at a time, just not enough for a sim any more. I do miss it, but once my little guys get a little older I'm sure I'll be back for more!
I bought Black Shark and downloaded FF5 in the case I actually do get some free extended period.
In the meantime, action flight games are as hard to find these days as actual simulations. How do I miss Crimson Skies! -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
....well its 12 : 40 is it gonna be available in the morning, afternoon....?
-
where is this demo!!
-
Can't wait, hope my 2 years old 8600m GT can still handle it. X.x
-
demo still not appeared on steam uk yet.
has american steam got it yey??? -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I'm not seeing the demo on any American sites either.
-
no demo yet
-
The article said 12:00 NOON EST.
So you still have 3.5 hours to go! Go get some breakfast and take a nap.
WooHoo! HAWX Demo Monday!
