I was really exited about the WiC demo and i think its great. the Single player mode is amazing and i cant wait to play the rest of the missions.
But one thing that i couldnt help but noticeing is that is REALY hard for the american forces to win in MP. The map seems to be set up for an easy Soviet victory which usualy happens. Ive played though a good 5-6 games and every time the russians won.
Why do you guys think this is?

How does it run on your system?
I am pondering how it will run on my system. -
I've only played on MP game and the US won, but I don't like how MP plays in the game so /shrug
The single player is great though, I do enjoy that. -
@ usapatriot: 800x600 DX10 x2 AA,AF Everything else on high, Water reflectings on on 256, i get 10 fps in the heat, 5 with nukes and sometimes massive lag when my vid card runs out of mem.
@Scavar, I think that the game will be AMAZING with clans. but the standard drop in and play is kinda anoying. -

If you've ever played Starwars Battlefront 1 or 2, you'll notice some of the battles are extremely biased as well. Dagobah with the republic and cis, the cis dont stand squat of a chance, seriously you respawn and then die in seconds. what it makes you do is think on your toes moreso than a straight charge. but it can be really annoying, so you think around it. -
You could be right, the big problem for me was what my preset idea of what an RTS like this should have been. Or rather what I thought this game was going to be, and it didn't do it at all.
I wanted/thought it was going to be like a normal RTS where you have base building and resource collection and such, just that it was shared through various peoples. Only certain people being able to build certain buildings, and to tech up and such you would have to work together, and different resources could only be collected by certain people.
So that it was a normal 1v1 or 3 side war, just more then one person controlling a single army. You get what I mean? I've always wanted a game like that, and when this was first annouced I thought it was answering that, but it dashed those dreams
A technically sound game though, and it really seems like I will enjoy the single player, so it's not a complete loss for me
-
thats what i like about it. rather than Real time Economy/Resources its actualy real time stratagy. theres no bigger army wins. its smarter commander wins and better team work wins.

The Demo was awesome, runs good at 1280 x 800 medium settings.
Now someone tell me exactly how you get an online account to play online. -

The air to air tactical aid is pretty unless the enemy choppers are stationary which in most cases, they aren't. I don't really like multiplayer all that much, but I spent a good 45-1 hour on the first mission in Single Player...just to take everything in...
And those infantry troops (the ones with the m203), are so effective against tanks...I had 2 squads of them and they survived abut 2-3 rounds against the enemies tanks. Kind of unrealistic... -
Stupid Tanks
. If they were smarter they would run you over (yes u can do that) I play as infantry. They def are the most versitile position in the game. but thier kinda slow. unless you whip out a couple of Transports and just drive them there.
Infantry is increadable hardy too they seem to last a LONG while. i tend to get most of my infantry to 2-3 ranks. -

So how do you play online? I created an account in game but when I try to login it says it does not exist?
-
That's wierd... Just half a hour ago I created my account in the game and logged in perfectly and played 2 online skirmish games with 15 other people...
Maybe try creating another account and see what happens next?

Nevermind, it worked this morning.
Awesome game!
Runs good too! -

I find them pretty fast when you use their sprint ability. It has a pretty fast recharge time so no worries. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
So uh, what are some good tactics for Anti-Air?
-
Agent CoolBlue Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
Nothing really, just plan accordingly as to where and when you use it...but the helicopters and such move so quickly it's really hard to do so...
-
Air is fast, Very fast. The best Anti-air to to scare them away. it usualy works pretty well.
If your playing a support then ur anit-air unit is the best in the game. 2 heavy AA missles can tear a pack of choppers to shreads. When playing as infantry you need the regular solders and they can deal some damage to chopers with thier rocket man. -

I find the infantry M203s to be very ineffective, in real life those things can rip a house to shreds. In WIC it seems as if the grenade just plops on the ground had makes some smoke or dust appear, -.-...
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
M203's are not much more effective than your average hand grenade, if not equal they are probably less effective.
-

M203s are not designed to replace grenades, it's there more for convenience.

i was definitly not expecting this game to be like this... and i LOVE it!! i can't believe the feeling of watching as the battle unfolds in your view, and the sound is fantastic... i can't wait for the full game comes out.
im running it at 1440 and at medium settings with the 8700M GT -
I was trying out infantry yesterday and I ordered a bunch of rocket soldiers and only to find out that they can NOT attack air with their RPGs...
I found that pretty stupid but anyway they do kill tanks very fast. I then ordered a bunch of regular soldiers to try to counter air but only to find out that they're very useless against air since those helis will kill all your infantry and your guys can't even kill one of them.
The problem with infantry is that if someone using support shoots long range artillery on you (without any signals such as those red smoke) then your guys are pretty much all gone (for me at least even when I used the sprint ability) since they're moving way too slow and takes a lot of damage.
-
Ill never be able to keep up with all these games.

Artillery does not always bulls-eye your men right away, if the first one misses you do you some time to react. I don't know if it's the game or my luck but I ordered a heavy artillery barrage on a group of 6 tanks that were stationary but in the end, 2 tanks still survived. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
So what are some good tactics? I always see other guys racking up points but not me.
-
I'm talking about those mobile missile vehicles in the support group which can fire long range missiles at my infantry which is moving very slowly. And I think it would be very easy for them to target those infantries because they move much slower than tanks and they also take more damage than tanks. I think I won't be using infantry the next time I play.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
The funny thing about this game is that you can play it comfortably at 15-20fps.
-
WHen this game will be released guys ?
-
The cool thing about this game is that its not always rock-paper-sissors. Infantry > Air but sometimes air can use special abilities to compleatly pwn infantry. heavy choppers for example if used well can only be killed off by air-to-air because of thie abilities to missle barage the ground with thier special.
-
I've been playing this as well. I put it on maxed resolution on my machine since on 800x600 my mouse pointer was off by an inch or so. (really odd eh?)
I think tonight I'll lower the resolution by a step and see if that helps it run smoother.
The game itself is pretty, but the battles can seem pretty random. As in, many times, I don't even have time to react to situations. I play under Deity if anyone wants to play sometime. -
I've been trying out the demo single player campaign at medium settings, 1440 x 900, and the graphics run flawlessly with my Vostro 1500 w/8600M GT (DDR2). I think the interface can use some work. The camera can be very difficult to control, I can't figure out how to center the camera around units, etc. I do wish the selection & camera controls worked like CoH, which I think is near perfection. It just takes so long to assess the situation, find your units & their various views, and get to your drop points and direct your reinforcements that, by the time you've done so, your existing units are either dead or beat to hell. THEY NEED TO SIMPLIFY THE INTERFACE, DAMMIT!
-
Agreed re the effectiveness of heavy anti-tank infantry. Probably needed for balance, since somehow the Soviets have hordes of tanks, and if you're lucky, you have a few lousy light tanks (at least in the opening stages of the SP campaign). I think the reinforcement model is silly; why do you have to wait for a unit to be DESTROYED, then you magically get an entire, new unit? Replacements should be moving in and replentishing your units' casualty losses. I'll keep at it to see if the game play improves at some point. Does anyone have any suggestions as to centering the view on individual units and moving the same camera view to another location? I really can't stand the camera. I've lost battles I otherwise would have one, simply because I can't get the damned camera to cooperate.
-
Ya definitely! I get the impression as soon as things starts to get out of hand, everything just spirals downward to your doom. It's got a great story in that the US homeland is attacked .. kinda don't care much for the cold war.
But it's a wartime strategy game, I wish it would allow you to plan and carry out your tactics with precision. I was hooked for about 6 hours and haven't played since.
