This is a great offer from 2DBoy ( another link). The servers are down for the moment, probably because of traffic but they might be available later on.
Until 19 Oct you can get the game for as much as you want. That means even $0.01. I paid $5 (£3.20) because I don't have enough money now but on the other hand I want to support small indendepent developers.
The game is great and fun and has a 90% Metascore (which is very high)
The offer is a bargain since the price for the game is $20 or £16.99 from Steam.
It's only 70MB file the whole game so it should be easy and quick to download and there aren't any ads on the game or DRM crap. There isn't any catch and you can pay with Paypal which makes it very convenient. It is also available in many countries.

If you don't already have World of Goo, everyone should jump on this offer.
-
How could anyone pass up the offer to "pay as much as you want"?!?! -
Links don't work.
-
-
The links should be back after a while. The offer is new so they are gonna be very busy. Be patient and try later or tomorrow.
-
Ya, servers are definatley buggy right now.
Tried downloading the game 3 times, and it downloads some of it, but then gives me the error message:
Going to have to wait till later on to download and play it. -
Good to know, but I already have the game. Bought it off of steam for 5 bucks!
-
I hope people at least pay $5. I wasn't real fond of World of Goo, but it is an Indie developer and it is a high quality game. At least support the little guy because the big guys (EA) don't care about us even though you do spend a pretty penny on their products.
-
I just purchased it for $5 and then nothing happened. how do i download the game? I recieved no email or further instructions
-
Did you enter your correct email?
Maybe try contacting them. -
I purchased this before on Steam, and I've noticed an alarming trend: although generally it's good to support the underdogs, I find anything can be hyped to any amount simply by appending "but it's Indie" to the end.
All-in-all this was a mediocre-to-poor game with an albeit novel, but uninspiring game mechanic (perhaps if this were 1987 circa the Tetris era). There are the great examples like Portal (who eventually get bought out by the big guys), but far too common I finding indie developers now just pushing some dull platformer (like the world needs more of those?) or other 2D more-art-than-gameplay game and then guised under the veil of "Indie-ness" they proclaim how fresh and original it is and everyone gives it top score like some sort of digital affirmative action.
I think the "Indie"-is-good myth has worn off it's usefulness we should just start calling a duck a duck. -

Wow. I don't advocate buying Indie games just for the sake of being Indie at all. But even World of Goo is much more refined than 90% of the games on store shelves that charge $20-40. Albeit, it's a much more simple concept and game, but it also is pretty much bug free and well optimized and unique.
I used to make my own games using BASIC about 20 years ago or so. That's when it was simple. These days, it's hard to compete the the multimillion dollar budgets of these game publishers that still put out crap.
My point earlier was that even though you can name your own price, this game is worth at least $5, nowhere near $40 or $50. -
This reminds me of those crazy classes you'd hear about where the teacher allowed students to get whatever grade they felt they deserved. I think $15 is a fair amount for this. I have it on the Wii and just never got that into it honestly. I was more dissapointed that the 2-player version of the game wasn't as fun as it could have been (competitive 2-player would've been much funner).
-
no worries ht, it wasn't directed *at* you, just inspired *by* your post to express some sentiments on World of Goo and the slew of over-hyped 2D/platformers in general, I had forgotten to express earlier.
I also do the occasional game, and recently having done one in C++/OpenGL I agree that it is no easy feat. But yes, at tops I would not pay more than $5 for this one. -
lol i donated $0.01
-
There is no point of being rude with $0.01 donations... :confused2:
I donated $5.50. -
-
I donated $1 (because frankly I don't care about this game I just figured it was worth a try) but they only gave me a french language only version.
Yay, now I get to learn french! /sarcasm -

Yeah, just because you don't like a game doesn't make it a bad game. There is plenty of garbage out there, indy or otherwise, but WoG is definitely not junk. If you are all about FPSes or clickfest RPGs or RTSes, no WoG won't appeal to you, but if you are in to puzzle games, WoG is a unique and fun game. It's not just about style either.
Anyway, yeah, everyone should go out and buy this game. I think it is a great game myself. And pay a reasonable amount for it, don't just jack the developers for thier work effectively for free. -
Another good one that I just picked up is Osmos. Good for killing five or ten minutes. Later levels do get harder, but they are manageable so far. Basic idea is that you are an amoeba like creature (round). You can absorb anything smaller than you. You will be absorbed by anything bigger than you. Absorbing smaller creatures makes you bigger. You move around using the mouse and mouse button, but by moving, you lose some mass, since it's that ejection of mass that makes you move, so it's a fine line between expelling mass which might make you smaller than that other amoeba that you planned on absorbing. Simple concept, very well executed.

Sounds almost like the super-lame verson of Spore I have on my old Samsung Blast cell phone. Its one of those "wait for the waitress to come take my order" games. In the end I prefer tetris.
-
Osmost is a lot harder than it looks. I enjoy it. It can get a bit frustrating at times though.
-
I thought world of goo was awesome. I also got it for 5$ during the Steam sale
-
got it for a penny like i was supposed to
-
I'll have to try Osmos. That sounds like a cool game. I'd like to see a game that takes it to the next step though. With only one dimension (mass) to change, it is a fun balancing act, but ultimately, with more dimensions, it could become almost an evolution simulator. That could be really interesting.

Well, let's see. Boggle, Scrabble, Bejeweled, and Peggle are all roughly equally simple in terms of core game concept, yet those are all still fun. I wouldn't write off Osmos just because of that.

Yeah, it seems deeper than that, judging how much acceleration you need to give it and whether that acceleration's gonna thin you down enough such that you won't be able to absorb whatever's in front of you, and that chase sequence at the end of that video looks pretty challenging and exciting, knowing that if you blindly accelerate towards your target you end up making the environment a lot tougher on yourself, it's very interesting imo

I love this game
