I just re-installed it today and well, it runs like WAY WAY better than before

    My settings:
    1680x1050
    2xAA, 4xAF
    Everything on highest except:
    Water Reflection= 512
    Compressed textures

All special effects except DX10 & Water Reflection

I'm getting 10-25FPS, which is great for that game. The auto-settings gave me very high 1440x900 and before it was Medium. I used to play on medium-high.

I don't know what is the difference than before
    32 bits?
    Server 2008 > Vista?
    167.xx & 174.xx drivers rather than 169.xx?

Anyone else playing with a 8600M GT DDR2 to compare?

PS: This is a great game

I have got the 8600m too, but than the DDR3 version. it gives me (with the same settings as you) 15-25 FPS. if I turn on DX10 it will give me around 10-20 FPS. unless in a giant nuclear explosion with 3 carpetbombings etc.

My settings are 1440*900 medium dx9 settings. See the attached file for my FPS, this is from the built in benchmarking tool.

Yeah the nukes are crazy, but good to watch.

I'm wondering what kinds of performances the desktop 8600GT gets with a nice CPU. I have a desktop with one & a Sempron 3100+ and was playing at Medium, 4xAA, Bloom at 1280x1024 at the same FPS as now.

I re-switched to Vista x64 and I'm getting the same performances so it's nice. This game looks so nice with everything cranked up.

I love how this game stays playable at extrem low framerates

I can play it on High on my older XPS M170 with a go 7800GTX at 1920x1200 with framerates from 17-30+ fps depending on action and explosions. Quite nice for over a 2 year old laptop with a single core. Though this on XP of course.
