It`s just a game, exactly![]()

I bought a game called the Outforce for 1.99 from EB games once. That game became a experiment as to what fire does to CDs shortly afterwards.
-
I still play that game online. Don't see what was bad about it.
Now, as for my "worst" game. Battlefield 2. -
A popular game doesn't make it a good game. Look at the Sims. Absolutely pointless, but it sells like crazy. Look at Myst. I played through the damn game because I had to review it, but it was the most annoying game ever IMHO. Either way it is my opinion.
I think mass appeal games are less fun only because they cater to the lowest common denominator which really eliminates a lot of the creativity and detail that goes into games made for a particular fan base. -
Agreed, look at System Shock 2, Grim Fandango or Monkey Island all brilliant games yet each one was a huge disappointment at retail.
-
I think worst games ever are those that no-one wants to pay for and actually play them, unless the person is extremely mentally left behind or being gun pointed at the head. Many games mentioned in this thread are played by many people, who actually enjoy and paid for their games.
-
Just my own opinion... Tycoon series and movie related games, although some are good
but some are just plain... PLAIN
. The matrix on ps2, OMG that was they worst game i played and i bought it thought it was cool since they make a showcase of it... but sadly its rather... stupido and you cant play NEO!!! WE WANT NEO!!!! seriously they should remake the game since the Matrix Trilogy are already ended.. or make a whole new stories~~~~
Dungeon Lords for the bugs and Desperate Housewives.. O-M-G.
And once again THEY KILL THE SF SERIES IN PS2!!! The shining force series for the ps2 was the worst and the VA for the character arent that good, in fact they try to sound animeish but it just doesnt work at all. It would be better if they have an option to use the Japanese VA. And they also cut the intro songs, making it no-vocal at all.. WHY!!!!
some DS game... but i really like the game called " The World End With You" made by Square-Enix, the plot story, character, setting and gameplay were original and they make use of the ds pen very good. I thought it was suck at first but after actually playing it... it was a whole new world to me...

I remember playing Rollercoaster tycoon a long time ago.
I got pissed over it really fast.
Black and White also got boring pretty fast, but I used to take people and throw them in the ocean or take my pet and slam it against trees.
I`m a sick bastard
-
Catwoman! that game sucked big time, all review sites gave it an F
-
meh most reviews suck balls.
worst game............empire earth 3. -
This quite possibly is the most entertaining thread I've read in a good long time. I'll throw my own thought into the ring with a game so bad I don't remember that name of it, but it had David Bowie and lots of time travel and demonic takeover. It even hinted at the idea that the game itself was a platform for world domination by those who created it.
It was really bad....the graphics sucked, the camera angles were aweful and the stroy was boring..., but David Bowie did sing a song. -
ROFL@ THAT E.T. GAME REVIEW. OMG THAT GAME IS HORRIFIC. It's worse than Big Rigs
-
For mainstream I would say that Hellgate: London is pretty terrible considering it was made for PC, and kept crashing while trying to create a character. That is not acceptable.
Here's a bad one:
Anyone remmember Panasonic 3DO? There was a game out called Way of the Warrior. It was a horrible Mortal Kombat knock off. The game tried to be hard-core, but turned out to be very corney and tried to have the same style as MK, as well as have finishers. Here are some pics:
Did I mention that the characters were terrible as well? -
seven samurai i think it was called for ps2 was pretty horrid. That was the last time I ever bought a game without knowing anything about it.
-
Eragon is such a crap game. The book was good to read but i just can't stand the game.

Thanks for saying what I was going to say.
I can see why people dislike games like the sims 2 and WoW, but you have to remember that people who play those games want something very different from those who like half life or counterstrike source or crysis or even oblivion. My mate hates all mmorpgs because he likes a game with a top-notch story. I however think that if I want a top notch story I'll read a book or watch a film. There are those of us who like games that do not begin and end but are more of an expression of personality, games that are social, involve roleplaying, designing, building and creating and games like the Sims and WoW allow us to do this. WoW of course is annoyingly limited as an mmorpg, games like ultima online providing true freedom, but you see the point. Mmorpgs also provide an alternate life, where you do real things like eat, drink, sleep, socialise, evven work to make money etc. and this is very appealing to people who have some area of their own real life that is not fulfilled and in this day and age there are a lot of people like that!
I do play WoW and the Sims. I don't think either is the greatest game of all time by any stretch, but they're nowhere near the worst. Just because they're not what you may class as interesting doesn't mean they're rubbish and saying so just shows a huge lack of insight. -
I'm not a fan of WoW, but even I would agree that it's a good game. Not to mention very profitable. More than 4 million subscirbers paying $15/month, do the math...
-
Wow is no longer a game people, there are people virtually living in that world.
-
There are some wackos who play WoW. I don't know how appropraite it is to say this, so I'll keep this as clean as possible.
I knew a guy who would play WoW all day (who doesn't) at his house. When he needed to use the facilities, instead of walking 10 feet to the restroom, he just kept a bottle next to him. He's gotta be on the top list of psychos. Not to mention he would build up characters, sell them on Ebay, and then steal them back by changing the password on that account.
Dirty people out there. Physically and mentally! -
Lets see here....Prey (atleast it was only $5 bucks) - Bioshock is kinda hit or miss with me...it was great for about 10 hours...then I was over it. As for older games, I might go out on a limb and say Icewind Dale 1&2. The BG series was such a hit and it seems like all the wheels fell off for the Icewind Dale series.
-
Wow is among the few games that would literally kill people . It happened before!
In my book, it`s so bad because it`s too addictive , and costs quite a lot.
A game, FOR ME , and I must stress the subjectivity , is about having fun, escaping from the real world FOR A FEW HOURS tops, not days, weeks or months in a row.
Building a character is nowhere near as interesting as building a life
-
Ah yes, the game you speak of was called Omikron for Dreamcast ( maybe for pc too? ). There were a lot of cool things like the futuristic city, smoke effects, and of course David Bowie. I really wanted to like it, but in the end the horrible gameplay and boring pace of the game forced me to remove it from the dreamcast forever. I think I paid $5 for it anyway.
One of my personal votes for worst game ever was a little game called Sword of Sodan for the Sega Genesis. It sold itself much in the same way the Splatterhouse series did. The box touted what looked like to be decent graphics for the time, and a lot of gore. I was sold after looking at the box ( I was 11 at the time ) and used birthday money to buy it. After I got it home I found out that it was absolute crap. It had massive slowdown and was the most repetitive pile of a game I'd ever seen. It turned out that the heads that were shown flying on the back of the box always flew no matter what. You could stab enemies in the shins and their heads would fly off.
People that are in here saying that Bioshock is the worst game ever are totally spoiled and aren't old enough to be able to remember truly horrible games. -
Remeber, subjectivity. There is no right or wrong here.
-
Again, a high profit game dosen't make it a good game. In the same manner there are some great games out there that never made much money.
WoW has a good formula that people can use as an alternate socialization, but I wouldn't put it in the top 100 games I've ever played. Does that make it a bad game? Maybe not, but it's not good either, and definitely one of the worst in *my* book. YMMV. -
You are right for the most part, but the days when 9 out of 10 games produced were complete garbage are long over. My cousin used to bring over garbage bags full of nintendo games, literally hundreds of them ( he was a bit spoiled you might say ), and only 20 or 30 were worth blowing the dust out of to get them to play. I remember paying $49.99 for the first ninja gaiden, and it was a great game at the time but hardly worth the money. New games now rarely cost more than that, and it's 20 years later. There is SO much more time, effort and money put into the production of games we play today, and they are overall a much better deal and less hit or miss than they used to be. Maybe this thread should be " Worst games ever in the last 5 years "
. Not trying to start a war or anything, but we are in a great age of gaming right now. It could be worse - we could all be sitting around playing neo geo that we payed $650 for.
-
True, but a lot of 50$ are not worth that much.
No game is worth that much acually, since most of them can be finished in a speedy way and that`s it, the story is gone.
A true gamer plays maybe 2-3 new games a month so that`s quite a big # to play in a year, and there`s always some titles that aren`t worth the money.
I`d be happy with ANY game if it costed 20$ . -
its called on sale
now you can be happy ALL THE TIME!
thank me later -
THose games taht are based off of movies all suck
-
overall, this has been a simply poor thread. The reason is that most of these games people are listing aren't anywhere close to terrible and they don't like it when a lot of people do. There's no way in hell you're going to tell me that WoW is the worst game you've played or the worst game in ever. The title of this thread is worst game ever. I want to really see some legit bad games.
-
Easily Halo 2 and Halo 3. Halo felt original. The sequels were just over-hyped, perfumed piles of ****. A few fan sites said they were good, so everyone, like sheep, jumped behind the leader. Whatever.
Assassins Creed. More like Ass-assassin. -
Are you telling me that Disney Cinderalla 2 for PC is a good game?
-
no, but i'm not expecting to see things like halo or fifa 98
-
Halo 1 was good, and original. Halo 2 and 3 were junk re-hashes with a few added "perks". Bioshock is something I'm blown away with people saying is "horrible". Completely original, and to me, shaking to the gaming industry.

....Are you serious?
Quite possible in my top 20 favorite games of all time. -
this is what i'm saying. This isn't a "games I don't like thread". Think worse games ever people. Games that are even WORSE than movie based games or games that are painful to play within the first seconds of playing it for the first time.
-
I agree. Halo 2 and 3 are still horrible games. Not that I don't dislike them, they are just bad. I could go on for ages on games I dislike.

PC Games I completely regretted buying and quickly ditched:
Hillsfar (1989) - Ugh!
AD&D: Heroes of the Lance (1991) - Dead Heroes of the Lance.
Aegis: Guardian of the Fleet (1994) - I could put the game on auto-mode and win every scenario.
Ultima VIII (1994) - Ultima goes mario.
Stonekeep (1995) - Just bad.
Privateer 2 (1996) - Worst FMV acting and buggy! Clive Owen stars in it.
Driver 1 (2000) - Cheating cops that go 0 to 100mph in 2 seconds.
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (2004) - Terrible game.
Gary Grigsby's World at War (2005) - Can the interface be any less intuitive and ugly? -
People saying wow is a "bad game" need to stop smoking crack. Love it or hate it, its a superbly put together game.
Worst game I ever bought was Elite:2 Frontier.
Although Privateer 2 was pretty bad also as the above poster mentioned (forgot that the main guy in it was Clive Owen!) -

Over twenty years of gaming, but there can be no doubt. -
this is a fun thread, so im going to add to it, i can respect that WoW is a good game, because it now has over 10 million users paying 15 - 20 dollars a month (depending on where you live). so i can respect that its good, but i hate it.
yeh anyways, in my opinion, worst games ever, one of them being call of juarez, graphics are good, and the gameplay is good, but my god ive never managed to get it working on any of my systems, it just lags regardless of what i do.
worst game ever tho, personally, dark messiah of might and magic. hyped up to death, then on release date the sound was broken, wouldnt work, so many graphical errors, the graphics just werent up to par with what was out at the time, and still even now its difficult to play, even on extra high textures theyre still awful, i think about the only good thing was the idea of free gameplay, so wherever u swing that sword it hits something and cuts it. but after that this game gets an epic fail from me.
brilliant idea, but it failed, and i was looking forward to it so bad, and it failed, when you play on hardcore too, one arrow hit kills you, and its impossible to dodge the arrows or even kill someone without using what the games placed for you, feels like whatever you do u have to follow the storyline and all u seem to do is kick kick kick kick kick. -
What was that bruce lee game out on the psx?
Spinning-in-his-grave! -
lol, that one seems pretty bad. I know a game with old aged graphics like that, but the online gameplay/replayiblity makes it 10 levels ahead on this game. I just wish I could remember what its called.
-
superman 64 is up there for worst games ever too. Before I was going to put Glover 64 (which I own), but the game did have some good puzzles so even though it was bad, it's not anywhere close to worst game ever
-
Medal of honor, pacific assault. Aaaa, yes, one of the worst games I ever tried myself, what a crappy controlled game. I`m just glad Airborne fixed that in due time ,otherwise, MOH would`ve been forgotten by me for ever...
-
Difficult topic...how do you answer it from first hand experience? And then it's just your opinion and might be more genre based (Flanker 2.5 is a great game, but you'll hate it if you don't like simulators) than actually game based...
Why would you suffer through a game that you thought was worst ever? Even prior to PC gaming getting big in the early 90's with lots of demos and reviews, you could go to Blockbuster and rent Genesis and SNES titles and try them out before you bought them...
I could say Deer Hunter for the PC from what I read, but I never actually played Deer Hunter...
(My attempt at an 'Oh no he didn't' controversial statement to distract form the Halo 2 is a bad game sentiment) And despite the recent hype surrounding GTA IV, I will never play a GTA game...my moral compass doesn't agree with the premise, but I can see why people would stand in line to purchase the game...
(My $0.02 on the most played out idea on the thread) I played WoW for a summer with some friends that live on the other side of the U.S....I never really liked it because I refuse to pay $15/month to play a game...and there was a definite class structure online...the server I was on was fairly intolerant of people new to the game...and guilds annoyed me...but the game itself has very high production value, and if you like that type of game, it seemed like one of the better ones...so I don't see it as a 'worst game ever' candidate...I just personally don't like social gaming...
Last game I remember that disappointed me was Crash Team Racing Nitro Kart on the Gamecube...loved CTR on the PSOne so I bought it without reading up on it...but CTR Nitro seemed a bit slow on the GC despite the innovative feature (for CTR) of loops and corkscrews...I tried to like it for a couple of hours but couldn't...even then, I don't think it's the worst game ever...
(And to answer the thread topic) Electric football -
Hey, deer hunter was much fun for me
Although the idea of such a game...really now. I was 15-16 when I first played it and laughed my ass off when 'hunting'.
But it was a terrible game overall...
Worst games ever?
