there wont be any noticible difference if any. go for the 2gb. vista wont even recognize the whole 4gbs of ram
-
4 will only be better than 2 if you max out those 2, but that will not likely happen since I don't know any game that even uses a full 1 GB on it's own. But an upgrade from 1GB (which you have now) to 2GB will definitely help it the overall response of Vista plus a possibility in games (if you maxed out your RAM previously).
Verdict: upgrade to 2GB unless 4 is cheaper (how this would happen idk) OR costs only a bit more. -
but in everest it is shown that mother board can have 4gb...Ihave vista32-bit...really will it be a problem to have 4gb recognizing?

I will continue notyou's idea. If 4GB is only costs a little bit, get that, and after you get the laptop, take out one of the two RAM chips, and sell it for $80. (You'll still have 2GB left) But it's unlikely they'll give a deal like that.
32-bit systems can only recognize 3GB. If you want to fully utilize 4GB, you'll need a 64-bit system (which costs a heck lot more). Having 4GB is quite useless unless you want to run every single Adobe application, Gears of War, Crysis, and some other games at the same time. -
Everest says your MB can handle 4GB but any 32bit OS will only be able to use ~3GB of it (due to addressing yadda yadda yadda). If you want to get the full 4GB check out using a 64 bit OS, just be sure to check things like drivers before you decide to take the plunge.

If you have the money get the 4gb. Within a year or 15 months, you'll need it.
-
That from the guy who doesn't have 4GB
All kidding aside, if the price is right >< go for it, other wise, stick with 2GB it's plenty.
-
Even with a 64-Bit OS and processor you cannot use the full 4GB.

anyway on topic, yea as others are saying get 4gb if it costs only a bit more, other than that get 2gb 1 stick. you can always update to 4gb later on.
to use 4gb ul need a 64bit OS which isnt worth it due to price and mainly compatability/driver issues -
If you can afford it, gofor the 4GB of ram. You'll only get to use about 3.2GB of the total amount, but you will see a significant increase in responsiveness compared to 1GB of ram, especially if you are using Vista.
Also, 64-bit isn't any more expensive than 32-bit. Most hardware these days is 64-bit capable, but everyone still uses 32-bit operating systems. -

With Vista you should haave at least 2GB. only go to 4GB if you play alot of new games. If you do, you will also need Vista Ultamite or 64-bit Home Premium.

but for more configuration which option is better 2gb or 4gb?(c2d1.5 8400m gs)I want to save some money
in poland ddr2 4gb costs 300zł=about 120$ and I am a student

yeah, I bought 4GB for my desktop gaming rig (see sig) because I bought into the Vista hype and went with 64-bit. Boy was I burned. It can't hurt to have the 3GB of useable in Vista anyhow. Taking one chip out will diminish performance since it won't be in dual-channel.
2GB should satisfy most games. Battlefield 2 and 2142 are serious memory hogs though, but even if Vista and background apps take up 500-600MB you should be fine with 2GB. -
thank you...I can always rely on you guys
happy new year to

I am thinking of getting 4GB to, but the 4GB ram will be a few months in my laptop with vista home premium 32bit (will only see 3.2GB ram) because i'm upgrading to a new hard drive in a few months (with vista x64 on it)
Is having 4GB ram with 32bit version a problem? (I mean it doesn't slow down your laptop, right? lol) -
Vista-64-business was "okay" with 2gb (Compal IFL-90), and "better" when I installed a second 2gb sodimm for a total of 4gb ram. XP (32-bit) runs just fine with the same 4gb of ram, but only sees the first 3gb (3,144,044 KB).
Worth it to go to 4GB?
