Would a reverse mxm card work in a standard mxm slot when flipped?

Simple question :) As I can't find definitive answer anywhere. Would a reverse mxm II 2.1 card for example the asus GTX 260M taken from the G70 series work in a standard mxm 2.1 II slot if flipped onto its back and installed that way.

I would love to give it a try if there was a chance it would work. Although fabricating a new heatsink to go underneath the card wouldn't be easy at all. Also might it be possible to flip the mxm connector round on the motherboard to accept the new card?

no, because there would be no room for the heatsink... ;)

Heatsinks and cooling aside would it be compatible? That is the first step. If it works then there is always a way to get a heatsink to work if one spent enough time and effort to make one that fits (There is space underneath my card)

I dont think that room for heatpipe is a problem because eg acer had that kind of solution in his laptops: http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/9136/p1170054oo5.jpg where mxm connector was actually way around and card was backward to motherbords if you know what i mean.
I dont know King if this would work. If coresponding pins from asus cards are on right place with normal mxm connectors and asus card have bios chip onboard it should work if offcourse there will not be some bios isssues.

That was my thinking darnok44. I am surprised that not many people are interested in trying this out like me. Even the 4670 512mb GDDR3 would be fairly easily outperformed by a GTX 260M. The pin out looks pretty much identical to me too.

I think the only thing that remains is whether there is a vbios chip on the card or not. I think there is as people with a Asus G50 upgraded from a 9800M GS to this card.

I'd be very surprised that the connectors would actually correspond to the same thing on a flipped vs normal.

They could because both were flipped Asus MXM. I wouldn't even try in yours. I doubt it can coo anything really more than a 4670.
