    My system is.

    (DESKTOP)
    Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    PNY Geforce 7900GS
1 gig (2 sodimms) of DDR Corsair XMS
    250gb 7400rpm HD

My 3D mark score was like 4008.

I am wondering if that is normal or not.

The online results put me on the low end vs other people.

It is on the low end. Even if you are using Vista this is a bit low. Check your graphics card drivers. The 1GB or Ram is limiting it a bit.

What resolution was the test done at? If it was 1280x1024, then I'd consider that a great score!

My MBP (sig) gets about 3750 running 1440x900, which means you are doing better with even more pixel calculations being done per frame!

Also, you are using good old DDR memory, even clocked at 667, my DDR2 should perform better than yours, yet your score is still higher.

Your score sure seems accurate to me.

But he's got a desktop 7900gs vs a mobile 8600M GT. There should be more of a difference between the two.

not really. keep in mind the 8 series doesn't return similar 3dmarks as the 7 series. i guess newer games will target 8 series hardware primarily. that sounds like a fine score, especially considering we have no idea what resolution it was done at.

I wouldn't consider a computer that has a GeForce 8(M) series to be a comparable setup. As noted the scores of the 8(M) series are much inflated.

If you really want to compare, go run through a game and record the min, avg, and max FPS. FEAR Combat has a built in benchmark - it's a free game.
