Hey guys on my DELL e1705 I can't seem to overclock it at ALL. I have been trying to use ATItool .25 beta and whenever I click SET CLOCK, the screen goes blue and never comes back even with VPU recover enabled. I was able to overclock the **** out of my x300 on my I6000. You can even leave the speeds at the DEFAULT value, and when you click SET it does the same thing. I have tried stock drivers, omega 6.2 catalyst drivers, and NGO regeneration 1.6.3 drivers. All have the same results. Anyone?!?!

Im not TOO familiar with ATI, but have you tried using ATI tool?
I used it to overclock an ati 9200se, and it worked well. . . -
lol

Sound like your card is not supported yet....are you using the ATI Tool version that comes WITH Omegadrivers?
If you use a different version it can crash...Omegadrivers use an optimized version of ATI Tool which is downloaded within the same package.
Also try Driver Cleaner after removing previus version of drivers....registry might be a mess after trying so many drivers.
Good Luck!! -
Powerstrip worked for me
Overclocked, and my 3dmark went up by 200 points - don't think I can go higher, though. -
Yea I use Powerstrip also. It works great, and is very easy to use.
-
I tried with Powerstrip too, but I could only change the core clock. Everytime I tried to even touch the memory clock, it hangs up. I found more people with the same problem. How did you guys do? Which drivers are you using?
Thanks -
Can someone point me into the right direction to learn everything there is about overclocking and undervolting. I would like to know what the difference between core clock and memory clock is. So if you know of a good website that has good tutorials and explains things very well, I would appreciate it if you could post it. I've tried googling it by I only get a bunch of forums where the people just talk about how they overclocked and how much of a boost it is. I know a little bit about undervolting and how I should use RM Clock and stuff. I will look into this powerstrip program and learn more about it. BTW, I just got an E1505 with the x1400 and would like to make it as strong and stable as possible.

Thanks, now I just have to find the best, easiest, and safest programs to implement my undervolting of Core Duo, and maybe overclocking of GPU.

Powerstrip works great for the x1400 on my E1505!
It even allows you to configure shortcut-keys to switch between the different setups (I have default set to win+shift+s and overclocked set to win+shift+c), so it's pretty convenient.
There is definitely a VERY noticeable increase in framerate (since I'm playing Oblivion , going up from 13 to 18 in places is quite a relief.) However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to leave my clocks at default with my new E1505 (returned the old one due to defect), just because it's not really worth it if it's dangerous. I mean, I don't *THINK* there were any adverse effects to my old x1400 (a few system crashes, and a LOT of system crashes [including that blue or green or white full-screen, when using ATI Tool] when I was still trying to figure out what exactly to do and was messing around with ATI Tool and then with various settings on Powerstrip), but how do you know?
Anybody got any reliable answers as far as the potential effect of overclocking (performed properly or improperly) on the health and lifespan of a video card? I know overheating doesn't mean it melts, but it certainly isn't good for it, correct? -
I am so tempted to overclock but I just dont know if it is worth it either. I dont really know what I would be doing and I really dont want to risk any damage. Undervolting however, I am pretty confident I can perform succesfully. Would you say RM Clock would be the best to do this.

I am having the same problem as “colamoid”. I am using powerstrip to overclock but it only allows me to change the engine clock. If I try to change the memory clock the program becomes non-responsive. Does anyone know why this is or know any reason behind it? I have a mx6708 (1g ram) and I am trying to run 2 instances (accounts) of eve-online ( www.eve-online.com) at once. I have the smallest resolution with the smallest possible graphics in the game. Once I start to play the games are quite smooth but then if I began to play heavily on both instances the computer becomes really lagy to the point I need to turn off 1 of the instances if want to continue playing.
just to let u guys know my default are 398/450 (engine/memeroty) i got 530/450 with very few artifacts. i been doing some reserch and i found that 450 for memory is quite high for x1400, but i still wana push it further. it seems to be locked somehow. -
you need the previous version of powerstrip. it will work then
-
you need version 363 build 540 for it to work. Good luck finding it though, you can through google but its tough. No english sites seem to host it, I ended up getting it off of some japanese site yesterday that I found through google.

i noticed something. for those installing omega drivers, what answer did u put for "is this a agp, or laptop"? it says if u put yes, then it disables oc'ing...mayb thats why. i just noticed that today when i re-installed the omega drivers.
X1400 overclock success?? anyone??
