Hey guys. I'm getting a laptop next month. I've picked a Del e1505.

    Dual Core-2.0Ghz
    1 Gig Ram
    120 Gig HDD
    X1400 graphics-256Meg

My current desktop is old...but here are specs...

    AMD Athlon 1.4 Ghz
    512 Meg Ram
    80 Gig HDD
    Geforce 3 video card-64 Meg

Now, me and my wife both use the desktop. All we do is browse internet with video streaming(mostly from nfl.com and such), play Diablo 2 like crazy, listen to music, chat, and play NES games on it. Now, the strongest game we have is Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. My desktop meets the requirments to play it, but it is very choppy due to the video card. I would love to play this game, but it's soo choppy even on low detail that it's almost unplayable. We also play dungeon siege 1 on desktop occasionally. So now, how much more powerful will the graphics card on the laptop be over the dated Geforce 3? I think it's a good card, but it's starting to show its age...My main use for laptop will be for everything I'm using on laptop in addition to WoW and dvd watching...Will this laptop do me good for a while? The ONLY newest game I plan on playing at all in the near future would probably be dungeon siege 2 or Doom 3 at best, but not that important...Thanks for the help!

The X1400 should be adequate for your needs. You won't be able to max everything out and play at native resolution but playing around with some settings should get you close. It will be a vast improvement over your Geforce 3. Yes, the laptop should satisfy your need for a good while.

Well I think your set then.

The X1400 will perform much better than the Geforce 3 for all the games you listed.

And if you choose to run Vista in the future it can also run the Aero interface very well.

As long as you really don't plan on playing any newer games from 2007, or at least expect them to play on medium or high settings you should be fine.
