I'm pretty sure this has been asked before but I did a search and had no luck finding the answer. Anyway, I wanna turn off the hypermemory and just let my graphics card use its 256mb of ram, but I can't find the option anywhere to turn it off.. I'm using the latest ATI drivers from the ati site, with the mobility mod from driverheaven. If someone could help me out, that'd be great!

Well, two things. First, your card most likely has access to 256 mb when HM is enabled, and less when it's disabled.

Second, enabling HM is typically faster than having it disabled. (Getting access to system memory is always better than not having access. The problem with HM cards is that they usually have very little onboard memory, and use HM to try to compensate)

When your computer boots up, go into the bios. (Pressing on a F# key, depending on your computer)

You should be able to configure how much memory is going for graphics from there.

ATI's Hypermemory cannot be turned off. Nvidia's TurboCache can, however, it seems.

How did you do this? I have a 7400 turbocache and there's really no point in it using 128mb of my system memory as well as its dedicated 128 given the cards capabilities anyway...

I've never seen how much of a difference there is when HM is turned off, but I believe if you download ATI Tray Tools, going into General Options, Advanced, there is an option to Enable ATT Shared Memory. Not sure if that actually turns off HM or not, but it is worth a try.

Chaz, ive tried that and even after reboot, the system manager still shows the X1600 at 512MB.

There's probably no way to do it then. HyperMemory support is integrated into the drivers.

There's no reason to enable more Hypermemory, the E1505's X1400 already shares 128MB. It won't do anything for you.
