HI. I woul like to know if a laptop x1600, with 256Mb ddr3 would equal a desktop 6600gt. Dont ask for processor and ram and clock and that stuff :D just talking generally. Which one is better??

    THANKS YOU ALL :p

The Mobility X1600 should perform better than most 6600GTs. The X1600 has more pipelines and a slightly faster core clock speed which would make it better than the 6600GT.

The 6600GT gets about 3000 marks in 3DMark05. It can't complete some tests in 3DMark06 because it doesn't have those features.

The X1600 gets about 3800. Some of that is due to using a faster processor, but it gives you a ballpark. Both will perform very similarly, with the X1600 just edging out the 6600GT (except in OpenGL apps, where NVIDIA typically reigns supreme)

If you are getting the DDR3 version there is no doubt that the X1600 is faster. Newer features, faster clocks... Great card.

    Max Theoretical numbers here

    6600GT

    Pixel Processing - 4000 Mpixels/sec
    Pixel Output Rate - 2000 Mpixels/sec
    Memory Bandwidth - 16GB/sex

    X1600 MR

    Pixel Processing - 5640 Mpixels/sec
    Pixel Output rate - 1880 Mpixel/sec
    Memory Bandwidth - 15.04 GB/sec

You'd probably find very little betwee the cards really, ATI take the lead in DX games, Nvidia in OpenGL.

Although looking into it, the desktop X1600pro is slower than the 6600GT across the board in games. So now I'm not too sure. 3dmark numbers are not a good way to compare systems as driver optimizations blur the lines somewhat. You need real game titles to show the difference.
