Hey guys, been quite a while since i posted on here, so i'll get straight to the point:

I just rented out Company of Heroes for my laptop (Asus A6Ja, x1600, etc) and for some reason during the FMV's the screen goes black....it's not the normal "loading screen" black, it's like the "Turn off screen" black and the screen doesn't turn back on....i can still hear the game playing in the background but the screen doesn't come back on.....

I've downloaded the patch update for the game, i've updated my directX drive to the lastest one...and it's still not working...last thing i've tried is installing the new ati catalyst drivers for my graphics card.....but guess wat? the one i download from the ati website (7.1 i believe) STILL says the update is not supported for my graphics card! i mean "?!" y would ati create an update for my graphics card (X1600) and it's not compatible? it doesn't make any sense!!!

anyway, this is extremely fustrating, do any of you guys know where i can download updated drivers for my X1600 that actually UPDATE my driver? and any ideas as to why the game turns off my screen?

*NOTE: i have tried to set the game graphics on low and that caused the game to crash*

ok, i've just run the game again and yes, i can confirm that the screen DEFINITELY turns OFF by itself during the FMV for some unknown reason.....i am pretty sure it has something to do with my graphics drivers being out of date.....where do i download updated drivers for my graphics card? (ati mobility X1600) that actually update my card? cause ati's website is such a useless place to begin my search

We've had exactly the same happen to us with COH Orphen. Did you manage to resolve the problem by installing later drivers for the X1600? We have the X1700.

Ive been playing COH with the X1600 for three months now with the Omega Drivers (3.9) and the only problems I get with the game are random crashes due to the game being unstable. Im on Medium High settings and usually my fan kicks in the middle of a game. But crashing and the FMV thing you describe has never happened.

I believe we have ATI's version 6.14 (does that sound about right?) graphics card drivers, which seem to be some months old now. Looks like we may need to update these in favour of newer ones, and this may correct the problem as identified by Orphen. I must confess to being a little confused as to the best place to get drivers for the X1700 card. Chaz's sticky on updating drivers suggests sticking with the Catalyst Mobility ones for the X1000 series cards. Not sure if version 7.1 is the way to go for the x1700 though.

I have had this problem as well with my W3J, could be a heating issue. But I updated my game and set the game to medium settings (This is what really helped) and the problem stopped.

Don't play this game on your bed though, make sure you are well ventilated.

I had the same problem. I updated my drivers to the Catalyst 6.12 and no problems with CoH, and the game runs smoother as well.
