Just a quick question for those owners with ati x1800, Will your system play BF2 with good settings med to high, or do you need to tweak the card with those app to get those settings ?
Any help would be great just looking into buying an x1800 machine, but im a BF2 fan and Fligh Sim fan so FSX will push it as well more so then bf2 ever will.

Any help would be great ^^
    Many thnx

For BF2 the ram would be the boltneck, not your GPU, if you have 2 gig of ram, BF2 will run superb.

ya im running bf2 on the desktop with a 6600gto msi, its alright 1gig dual channel. I plan on getting 512 with the laptop and buying 2gigs. is their really alot of overhead on the x1800 to use a 3rd party tool to open up ? i have read about ppl using these apps to "tweak" the card just a bit to use that extra bit bandwidth, or is it not really needed?

Play the games with the stock video card settings, and if they run smooth like that, then there is no need to risk overclocking. It's not really necessary to do that, no.

I can push my system, but since I have 512 megs ram I gotta wait about 30 seconds for each game to load. I can also only play one game then I gotta reset the system. :D

It's very powerful, just remember to bring some ram (Like you said).

    I worded this wrong.

Which system are you getting? Remember to get rid of anything UNNESSECARY in the background, IE, if your getting Alienwares m5750, get rid of Alienguise. Things that stay in the background lower performance.

    Sorry, worded wrong. Tired.

As some of the others have pointed out, get 2 gb ram. Specially when trying to run BF2/BF2142.
I run both with highest setting and it works like a charm.
