I'm having some problems with a notebook with 1GB RAM and the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M.

Through system properties, I see there is 896MB of RAM since 128 is used by the integrated graphics chip. This question might seem awkward to some of you but can I force the X200M to use it's own memory so that 1GB of RAM is available?

Secondly, would I see any performance increase using the Omega drivers with the X200M over the standard Catalysts?

You cant force the 200m to use its own memory because it DOESNT have any...thats why its called an integrated/shared gpu because it has no memory of its own, relying on system memory to run.

The minimum u can set it to is 32mb. And if u want a gpu that has its own ram and doesnt steal from ur system ram, then u better consider purchasing another laptop with a discrete gpu.

    Hey Silent,

I dont think that should be a big problem. Go to your BIOS and check settings on your videocard. I think you can set your videocard to 32 MB there, so the full 1 GB DDR will be avaible.

If you dont have that option in the BIOS, check ATI Catalyst. But I dont think that will help you much. If that is also not possible, you can be sure that it is 128 MB all the time.
