The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
-
the only things i dont like is the cpu is a bottom barrel core 2 duo and that they ARE HEAVY according to the review i saw they said it was the thickest notebook they ever reviewed and they weighed in starting at almost 10lbs this doesn't included the power adapter or anything else
oh and not sure if it matters but its only a wxga resolution -
there has got to be a catch. Like you can only keep it for a week or something
.
-
That is an incredible deal...
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Ah I guess yeah the cpu took the hit. But still thats a pretty good deal with bishock and moh airborne. The 8700 itself is valued 300 or more.
-
probably because of the bottom-line cpu
-
yeah but on toshiba direct the same setup is 1899 with a T7100 other than the 5450
Edit: Nevermind, the one on Toshiba direct also has a HD-DVD drive. -
if that was a wsxga id grab one in a sec.. then upgrade the cpu later.. i just dont want a wxga screen on a 17"
-
yeah I don't understand why they try to market a gaming laptop with a 1440x900 17" screen...
-
1440x900 isn't horrible on a 17" screen, it's even slightly better than 1280x800 on a 15.4" screen (which is the standard for most notebooks today).
-
So does anyone believe it's specs?

You know, all of the laptops at Best Buy you can play around on - next time someone goes there, bring a hardware identification utility on a memory stick and install it - find out what the heck is in there. -
You guys think its worth buying?
-
we need to know the real specs first!

I'm currently on the one that Best Buy has on sale...... I got the deal...two games....Medal of Honor AA and Bioshock....I'm trying to get World in Conflict working but the effects are missing in game so I have to install the laptop2go drivers being the default stock drivers are faulty or not operable...I'm currently downloading them now.....I'll do some benchmarking when I get a chance it's kinda of late now.....
-
what hardware does it actually have?? can you give us a run down?? im going tomm to look at it
-
Here's a glimpse...of the hardware instead of the HD DVD with the one Toshiba Direct has it has a DVD RW

man i just wish it had a higher res screen then id be buying 2 of them to replace my home desktop as well and one for the office...why a wxga??
how do you lie the screen duran most people ive talked to said they were not super fond of the colors and brightness on these?? and how bad is it as far as weight really? -
It's a bit heavy @ 9 lbs or so if you want to add in the power brick it will add to the weight and it's pretty thick...however it is pretty cool and heat efficient....I finally got World in Conflict running at high settings......and it's beautiful.....I haven't tried Bioshock or AA that I have along with the laptop. The colors are ok in my opinion.......If you want to play games at a reasonable resolution.....I recommend this laptop if you want to spend 1444 which came out at the register.
-
thats an awesome deal....
-
thanks for the pictures, can u see what kind of memory have the videocard? gdd2r or gdd3r?
-
the 8700 has ddr3 if i am correct..
-
Is there a way to check? I'll let you guys know if it is just tell me.
-
hmmm i have a best buy 10% off coupon.. wonder if i could use it on this..
-
if you can get it with the online deal then go for it.
-
Holy crap! Looks like a great deal.
Except this seems to be an oddly configured notebook:
- 1.66GHz CPU?
- 1440x900 on a 17"?
- 256MB DDR2 on an 8700m? 256MB *AND* DDR2... hmmm. Except with 1440x900 you really probably don't need more than 256MB.
- edit: oh yeah and no HD-DVD drive -
there is no way its ddr2....all the 8700gt's are gddr3
-
Maybe Best Buy did a misprint of the GDDR? I have the laptop....on my desk now......
-
dont trust best buy, lowering the processor and taking out the hd dvd drive would lower the cost by that much anyways
-
-
well I didn't need the HD DVD Drive and World in Conflict runs fine......On the laptop....Bioshock stickers are surrounding the laptop and are heavily advertised........I haven't tried Bioshock with the newest laptop2go drivers.....I'll give it a shot tomorrow....
-
yeah i could care less about the hd dvd drive myself..the one factot from mw not buying this tomm when i go there is the wxga screen on a 17 i am just so used to having a wsxga..
-
I would consider the X205 with a 2.0GHz C2D CPU, 8700m GT 512MB, DVD-RW (no HD-DVD), 2GB RAM, WinXP Pro for $1600. 1440x900 resolution wouldn't bother me so much. 1680x1050 on my Vostro seems a little too tiny for every day use. I would have gone with the 1440x900 screen anyhow if it weren't for Dell's delays due to that screen and the horror stories people had regarding the piss-poor quality of those screens.
-
remember though this is a 17"
-
The Resolution is good enough for me...
-
Duran, if you download the free version of everest, and have it compile it's report, there will be a GPU section. Just copy and paste (or take a screenshot of) that section so we can see the GPU specs.
-
im gonna see it tomm.. but i forgot about the taxes on this being it comes from best buy... i can get the better version from amazon for only like 100$ more if you figure in the tax i have to pay of 8%...not so much of a great deal in that case imo.. not with the cou it comes with that totally slipped my ming till you said 1444 w/tax... damn...
im very interested to know if its ddr2 or ddr3 myself -
Wow this is awesome. Anyone know how to order it online from Canada. (Canadian Bestbuy Doesn't have it AT ALL!!!)
-
I've tried Everest but the GPU window isn't popping and I run the reports and still I see nothing so I tried Rivatuner and says this.....is there another program besides Everest?
Attached Files:
-
-
ohhh it says "DDR3"...s it 100% true?
-
Rivatuner can't accurately check the VRAM type. Could you see what the clock speeds are in Rivatuner?
-
It looks like 625/700 that means GDDR3?
-
Yup. <filler>
-
I guess we can confirm that it's GDDR3.....
-
very very nice, im buying it tomorrow thanks.
-
if there was only a way to buy it without the tax.. lol.. thats adds like 100$ back into the price...
-
you know the 8710p sells for basically the same price with better specs.. just a thought
-
Go to Oregon? Or some other state that doesn't have sales tax?
And its nice to see that its GDDR3, I read in another thread that it only had DDR2 VRAM. That makes the Best Buy deal nothing short of incredible, since the worse CPU and loss of an HD DVD drive are the only penalties. -
just fyi the t5250 is not a 800mhz fsb chip its a 667 chip according to the intel web site. so i wonder if this is based on the 965 chipset?? or if we can even drop a 800mhx fsb chip in there.. ... could be why so cheap
X205 Uber cheap?
