Hi,
What is the maximum amount of system memory the X4500 will utilize if I have 4GB of RAM?
Does it dynamically scale based on what you're doing?
How much memory will it utilize doing rudimentary desktop work?

If you have a 64-bit opperating system, a compatible motherboard, and any somewhat modern CPU, you should be able to address all 4 Gigs of RAM.

I think he is not asking how much memory will his system use, but how much the X4500 will be allocated. Based on what I could find, 384, however I was unable to find much documentation on the matter. -
So 384 the max and it's lower depending on what you're doing, or always 384?

It shouldn`t really matter, it`s an IGP. It would not literally use more than 256MB, even if it might have even 1 Gb of memory allocated.
But don`t worry, the system would still have enough memory, even with the IGP sucking some of it. -
Hi,
1. What is the maximum amount of system memory the X4500 will utilize if I have 4GB of RAM?
From Intel site, it says it can allocate maximum of 2GB. I have seen Centrino 2 laptops that indicate 1859MB, and I've also seen docs that say over 2GB.
2. Does it dynamically scale based on what you're doing?
Yes it does. It'll allocate more for running say, Crysis than playing Dungeon Sige for example, or running 2D desktop with IE open.
3. How much memory will it utilize doing rudimentary desktop work?
Not much. It'll probably allocate no more than 50MB even with full AERO options in Vista enabled.
Not really. Games like Battlefield 2/2142/Crysis/Company of Heroes use 500-800MB of video memory at high settings. Now some games like Crysis will never be playable with current IGP even at medium, but lots will exceed the 384MB and be playable with the X4500.
