I was just wondering if the X3100 will be able to run Blender3d. I have a X200M right now and it's HORRIBLE!!! just rotating a model in Blender3d with the X200M takes all day!!! Will the X3100 be any better?

If the X200M is that bad then I have little confidence that the X3100 will do much better. What are the requirements of the software?

    -2GB RAM
    -Intel GMA X3100

I think the problem with the X200M was it's horrible OpenGL abilities, and is the X3100 really that bad... :(. I was hoping I was getting something a little better than what I already had.

    Thank You,

The X3100 is a good deal better then the X200m and the go6150 but the game requirements you just posted let me believe that even the X3100 is going to lag seriously.

Sry to say this, but you need a dedicated gfx card.

It looks like you really do need a system with a dedicated graphics card to run this program.

I would suggest doing some searching on the Internet to see if anyone else is trying to run this program on an X3100. If there's a free downloadable demo of it I'd be willing to test it out. My ThinkPad has an X3100.

Your best bet is to grab an Nvidia dedicated GPU since Nvidia has the best support for Linux. THe reason your x200 may not be performing too well is because either a) You dont have ATI's drivers installed, b) there are no linux x200 ATI drivers because I heard ATI has poor linux support, c) Open source ATI drivers are terrible with open gl. Sorry, I dont think an x3100 would be any better since I dont think Intel has released linux drivers.

Blender3D isn't a game but a 3D Modeling program. It is free for download at www.blender3d.org. I on the other hand have changed my mind once again lol. I'm not looking at a system with a 256MB 8600m GS. I doubt that card would have any problem running the program.

    Thanks though,
    -Taylor

The Radeon X200M is absolutely abysmal when it comes to OpenGL performance. It can't even play games that are years old in OpenGL mode because it is that bad.

An 8600M would not have any problem running the program. Nvidia is the way to go for OpenGL performance.

@Chaz: The threadstarter is looking for a different laptop now, but can you test blender3d on your X61T anyway?
I'm planning on buying the same TabletPC in the near future and that would surely help. : )
