hi, i recently purchased a hp dv2612ca (1.5 C2D, 2g ram, 160g5400rpm, x3100, home premium) and in comparison to my older acer 3050 (which had a radeon 1100) the graphics are much worse when i try to watch movies on me external 22" lcd monitor).......basicly the older acer; the movies looked realy good! even avi/divx compressed movies, but now on the much more expensive laptop the same movies look horrible! the angled objects are so pixelated in 32bit mode and in 16bit mode theres all kinds of weird dots all over the place.
the older acer looked way better in 16bit mode than the new hp does in 32bit!
i tried messing around with the setting and options in the X3100 to no avail...it just looks crap

does this mean im stuck with this?
    is there hope?

cronos, what settings do you have set for your external output?
(16 or 32 bit?) and are you mirroring the primary display?
    which drivers?

    thanx

Worked fine for me as well. Used external lcd as primary display, 1280x768 and 32-bit colour. Was using 15.4.x vista drivers when I tried it (now I just stream videos through my xbox 360 since it can finally play divx/xvid natively).
