That's a strange question, but it is a dedicated card.

it is soley a dedicated card. But parts of it are integrated into the motherboard.
Also you can get some versions that share some of the main system memory (hypermemory)
The non hypermemory version is better -

Well, of course having HyperMemory isn't going to kill you.
256MB of total video memory (128MB dedicated, 128 shared) would be better than just 128MB dedicated, you are right there. -
I think that x700 in fact has a great ATi memory controller that does something that is advertised as Hypermemory on some weaker cards. Of course that any card can access main memory and in fact have more than dedicated. The difference is in speed at what it does it. With a new controller, optimized algorythms for deciding when to put something or take into dedicated, and extremely fast two-way pci-x bus all x series cards will benefit from so called "hypermemory". As Chaz said - the more the better.
If there are x700 with extra Hypermemory sticker on them - that is more of a marketing trick than any actual speed difference. The thing is if it is much cheaper to make x300 or x600 or x700 with only 64MB dedicated, and people know they want some of the above stated, the "Hypermemory" will indicate that this card easily utilizes main ram and takes as much as you need. To many people this sounds OK and are in fact happy, because they pay less. For hard core gamers the downsides of Hypermemory (slower than dedicated by some factor) actually make this HM not wanted. Without enough dedicated memory GPU cannot reach its maximum. It is simple as that.

a 256mb dedicated is better than a 128mb dedicated/128mb hypermemory.
in general, get the most amount of dedicated memory you can -

Right. Hypermemory is in no way, shape, or form a compensation for real dedicated video memory.
If you plan on playing games, I wouldn't get less than 128MB of VRAM. -
