I remember hearing that you could use a 360 controller with a pc, is this true? can you use both the wireless and the wired controller if so? do you need to download software or can you use it right out of the box
-
I have one, its USB and you need a driver for it. However, I don't recommend it. It works perfectly fine on my xbox 360, however, on the PC its kinda crap.
-
for about $15 USD you can buy an official Microsoft Wireless controller dongle - It plugs into your USB port and lets you use your 360 controllers.
-
$15 USD ?? where ?¿... i can get one at $40 bucks
-
curious, what is the difference between using it on an xbox and a computer?
-
I have the 360 controller plugged into my computer and I love it. But I bought it for windows....
I think if you download the drivers for the pc, you should be fine, but im not sure -
I use the standard wired xbox 360 controller (not that overpriced "for windows" one) on my PC with no problems whatsoever. It easily found the drivers online as soon as I plugged it in, and most games recognize it easily, and for the ones that don't, I use a free program called xpadder to use it.

If you want the wired one, the regular 360 edition will work plus the drivers from the ms site - there's no need to get the windows version.
Both the wired and wireless controllers should work perfectly with any games that have 'games for windows' branding. I've played through lego star wars 2 with mine and it was great. I've also done a bit of testing with tomb raider legend and anniversary and it worked as expected. -
I don't want to make another thread on this because I hate seeing several threads on the same topic. Such as the billion Bioshock threads up now lol which I won't go into a one in fear of spoilers and when I do happen to go in one I won't read what anyone's posted but just post what I think lol!
Anyways!!!
I have a 360 wireless controller but I also bought a battery and a battery charger. The battery charger is just a wire that hooks into the controller and at the end a usb connector that hooks into the 360. Can I just use that to hook it up to my computer and if so how? I know some of you have mentioned something about drivers but where do I get these drivers?
Thank You,
-Taylor -
i got my drivers for the 360 controller from microsoft

Let me know if that works, I havn't yet tried it. That's the driver from Microsoft. It says "Xbox 360 controller for windows" which may mean the one that you buy specifically for Windows. I have the wired one with my first xbox360 that I will try this weekend.
EDIT: That's the 32 bit Vista driver -
I have a wireless controller and receiver. The software came with the USB dongle.
You should also google some software called Xpadder4, it allows you to make game profiles where you can map the keys however you want. Good stuff. -
If you have Vista you don't need to download a driver. I just plugged mine in and it worked.

I have a wireless controller and I'm using the wired extension to try and hook it up. It's just not working. I guess because I need a wired controller.
Thanks though. -
