Hi, I just bought the AGP 6200 card. Installed with no problem in the AGP slot... now the problem is the computer won't boot. Everything turns on, cd-rom, fans, etc, but the computer doesn't seem to be reading from the HDD to boot. When I take out the card the PC boots no problem, but when I put it in again the same problem occurs :(

    PC:
    1.5GHz P4
    256MB RAM
    300-W PSU
    Windows XP

    Thanks

it could either be the card or your power supply is to low.
where did you by the card from?

Tigerdirect.com, in the card box says atleast a 250W PSU is needed, and mine is 300W :(

ic...well the only thing i can think of is you need a higher power supply. try getting like a 350 watt.

Well, its very likely the card is defective. A 300W power supply is more than sufficient for a GeForce 6200. Also, check your BIOS settings, see if you can set "AGP" as the primary graphics adapter instead of "PCI" or "Integrated". Do you see the POST screen at all with the card installed?

Also, you need more RAM. That isn't really related to the card, but the best GPU in the world will won't let you play any games acceptably on 256MB of RAM.

No, it won't POST with the card installed, also I set AGP as primary graphics adapter and didn't help. I noticed that if I unpluged the cd-rom power cable it will atleast turn on the HDD usage light, but it will stay on all the time, no blinking. Also the AGP slot is 1x, 2x or 4x universal slot, while the card is 8x. Is this a problem? the card won't work in 4x mode?

that could be the problem. but seems you have enough Power supply the only other thing is that it is a defective card. and yes i would also update your ram to at least 1 gig or even 2 if your pc will handle it all, thats a good point lowlymarine

No it works in 4x mode. I had a 6200 in an crappy packard bell AGP 4x mobo. It worked fine, practically no noticeable difference in performance from the full 8x. But then again, the 6200 is a very weak card anyway.

it might just be the card then.
oh and depending on what type of games you will be wanting to play if any you could always go for a better one.
