    I have a XMG P702 Pro
When surfing the internet and doing not much else it seems to be running hot.
It is about 1 year old and as the following components:

    I7 3610QM running at 75 degrees
    Geforce GTX675m 2GB running at 60 degrees
    8 GB Ram

When playing COD4 Modern Warfare and COD Ghosts it as turned off of few times in the middle of a game.
I have opened it up and cleaned the fans.

What temperature are other people getting?

    welcome to nbr

when you say youve cleaned the fans did you use compressed air all around the fans and vents. dust is usually the biggest cause for raised temps by upto 10c sometimes.
if you have a cat or dog this can make it even higher as somehow hairs get everywhere.

those temps are a little raised for just brousing. it might need new thermal paste applying to the cpu/gpu.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...e-guide-upgrading-thermal-paste-your-own.html

ive got the 15" and have just played 30 minutes of ghosts. just come out and straight on the forum and my
    cpu are 44c /38c / 50c / 40c and gpu 49c

ive never had a shut down yet but i have reached temps of low to mid 90c on cpu and 85c on gpu while playing B4 but i dont bother monitoring my temps that often now.

worst stress test ive done for cpu is intel extreme tuning where all 4 cores were on 98/99c and it still didnt shut down.

which software do you use to monitor your temps. lots of free monitoring software in my sig below. might be worth using a different one to see if it makes any difference.

I cleaned it with compressed air, quite a bit of dust came out,but not loads.
I sit on the sofa with it on my knee,so maybe the circulation is not very good like this.
I now have put my uncomfortable cooler under it and it is running cooler.
    The temperatures now are:
    CPU 60
    GPU 50
I am looking at getting a comfy cooler for my knee.
Targus Lap Chill or NotePal U2 seem good.
    Any tips?

What temps does it get up to when you're actually gaming?

There may be dust caked in the heatsink vents. I recommend a complete teardown, which means you'll need thermal paste to replace what's been there for a year.

There was a lot of dust blocking in between the fan and exhaust vents (red arrows)

    2014-01-15 11.30.40.jpg

When I cleaned it yesterday, I just removed the cover and blew it out and never checked it properly.
This morning I toook the fan and the heat sink off and cleared the dust out.
Do I need to replace the thermal paste now?

It's running 50-55 degrees CPU and GPU now
after a short gaming test CPU 60 and GPU 90.

Yes, the paste must be redone, any time you take off the heatsink.

cpu now perfect but gpu still a little high even while gaming.
thermal paste is a must every time the seal of the previous paste is broken.

    Another update
    After 1 hour Ghosts

    CPU 50-55
GPU 70 straight after it cooled down to 45

What is the best thermal paste?
Does it make a difference which one I use?
