So question is simple,i need new thermal paste for my xps 15 L501x and need to solve cpu throttling which occurs after sometime playing game. For now, consistent replacements of HSF is doing the trick, but i need a good solution for it.Can't get my hands on ICD 7 or tx4 ,but this new antec 7 and antec 6 resembles ICD7 a lot and i've seen benchmarks on internet too, this seems a very respectable paste.I am running short of budget, though i can extend it and get formula 7,but benchmarks prove there's almost no difference between temps in formula 6 vs 7,on paper 8.3 w/mK(formula 7) vs 5.3 w/mK(formula 6) looks a lot different but temp-wise,they almost a degree apart. So do you still recommend me to extend my budget and go for antec 7?? is it worth it? And what's the best way to apply it?? i'll be callin dell tech to replace HSF and will apply it manually on the new HSF
Cheers!![]()

you can't compare just "w/mK". Even if it's higher then something else it can be worse. It gives a good indication but you have to check real life results. replacing thermal paste won't solve those problems. it doesn't make any miracles, it just improves, a tiny bit.
If you are short on budget I recommend you to buy the cheapest premium paste that is available to you. Differences are minimal. Would you pay more $20 just for a 1ºC decrease? For some it might be worth it but for someone on a budget it doesn't make any sense. You have dozens to choose where the difference is less then 3ºC from the best performing one. just buy the cheapest.

Arctic Silver 5 comes out as number 3 on that roundup, a few spots ahead of Antec Formula 7. You can get AS5 on Newegg for $13 shipped, or Antec Formula 7 for $14 shipped; it's discounted so it's actually cheaper than Antec Formula 6 right now on Newegg.

I live in India and can get formula 6 for 430(9$) INR and formula 7 for 730(14$) INR ..
Shipping 49(1$) extra.I am gettin ps3 wireless controller too, hence short of budget
I just wanted to know extra 5$ is worth the C difference?
There could a possibility that antec formula 7 may prove better with more break in time cause they obviously might have improved it.

If it's a budget issue, the Formula 6 should be just fine. The odds that you're going to come within a degree of throttling/overheating without actually going over are very low, so the difference between Formula 6 and Formula 7 is probably not going to be worth worrying about.
However, if you're really worried about that one degree, go with the Formula 7 - it's only $5 extra, so if you think it's going to make your CPU or GPU last longer, then isn't that worth $5? -
Price/performance-wise, get the mayonnaise.
