For those of you who have purchased stuff from XBL and exchanged your console only to find that you could not play the stuff you bought unless logged into XBL. Microsoft has just released a tool that allows you to transfer everything to your new console. If you got a refurbed system from Microsoft this doesn't apply to you.
But if your machine failed and you got a new one or an exchange from Best Buy etc. this will help you get your stuff back. Also this only can be done once every 12 months. There's a FAQ at the bottom of the page that answers more questions.

Hmmm...once every year. When consoles have been shown to fail (in an extreme case) once per month for a single customer.
Smart move, but there needs to be no time restriction given the failure rate of the XBOX 360. -
great news becuase my xbox 360 just broke! Good to know that I will be able to play my acarde games on the new system I get back once its done from repair.

Not mine, nor any of my 6 friends who have one has had any issues with them.

Mine died within two weeks of purchase. Returned it and bought a gaming computer instead (waaay back when...I think that was when I bought the old HP nc8430).

My XBOX 360 failed on Tuesday. Nice to see something is offered to help with it.

I'm now using my 3rd 360 and from the looks of things this one is gonna die soon (sometimes I power it on and it never boots up and sometimes it throws up an error code and I have to reboot). Crazy thing is I only play it maybe once every 3 weeks unless I buy a new game (just GTA4 for 2008) so who knows how many I would have gone through if I played it every day. Not sure if I'm an exception or the norm but I'm glad something like this was released. -
Some people have no issues for years, others have many issues in a single year. Its called bad engineering.
MS has done a lot to fix the XBOX360, but the older (more error prone) ones are still out there and failing. -
