The Xbox360 and PS3 both use the same core. The Xbox360 has a triple core PowerPC running at 3.2GHz while the PS3 runs a single core PowerPC at 3.2GHz with a crapload of 32-bit co-processors tacked on.
In reality, the Xbox360 has the more powerful CPU, despite what Sony puts out on paper. The co-processors in the PS3.. sorry, I mean "SPEs", are good at the type of math that would make Photoshop run like a dream. But not good for gaming.
Emulating the graphics on the PS3 and Xbox360 isn't an issue. They're both using the equivalent of a GeForce 7950 GTX. The processor is the issue.
It'll be years before the processors in either can be emulated. However, the PS3 will definitely be emulated before the Xbox360 is.

i though the 360's gpu is equilent the 8600 gt

Yeah i recall reading the PS3's GPU is around a 7800gt/7900gt? From my understanding , If games are coded correctly for the PS3 and utilise all the SPE's (Or atleast the ones that arnt being used by the OS) then they will run much better and that the machine is way more powerful.

whats virtual access memory?

Look, the PS3's CPU is the most overhyped thing since sliced bread.
The main processor is essentially a PowerPC G5 running at 3.2GHz. The same thing as in the Xbox360 and basically the same as the old PowerMac G5s. The difference is that the PS3 has ONE core and the Xbox360 has 3 cores.
Playstation3's "SPEs" are basically really good integer based co-processors. They're 32-bit and, if the PS3 had a few gigs of RAM, would make it the ultimate Photoshop machine.
In the real world, however, the math that a REAL game would require still has to be carried out by the CPU and the GPU. The SPEs would be good for things like AI. However, you have to remember that the Xbox360 has a triple core 64-bit CPU that is capable of calculating 128-bit instruction sets. So lets say the PS3 and Xbox360 are both using the main CPU for the real world math the game needs, the Xbox360 will still have 2 free 64-bit cores that are much faster than those pathetic co-processors to do the rest of the work. -

so if a emulator was perfected for the 360. you need a oc quad core, 9800gtx and 4gb of ram

Eh, by the time emulators will be there, we'll have 16-cores with Geforce 15k800GX8

I have found the Xbox 360 emultator: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=230216
