I know necessarily not PC gaming, but it's pretty relevant to the gaming world. Xbox 360 is ten years old today believe it or not. Still going strong in my home too. Happy Birthday Xbox 360.

We have a console thread somewhere around here... They're PCs after all, just not very good ones. But yeah, I hate Xbox... I really hate the fact that I got drawn into my Xbox... But yes, 10 years is quite an achievement going against Sony.

Speaking about things that are ten years, FSX has also it's ten year anniversary this year.

    Happy Birthday!
Mine is going strong too. I had one RRoD back in 08-09 and used the extended warranty, no trouble since. Now it´s used mainly for Lego-games and platformers together with my kids.
I briefly tried Gears of War 3 on it recently. The graphics quality they managed to squeeze out of the 360 for those later games is quite impressive, considering the hardware.

When the 360 first released I was 12..........................

Wow this have been a long console cycle, the seventh gen just won't die it seems. I fact the way this is going, we might get an early ninth gen to replace these anemic consoles; and Microsoft/Sony might end the One/PS4 at the same time as the 360/PS3 haha

I just have a big collection of Xbox 360 games that my kids still play and some games that I have that they will likely play. I can see my Xbox 360 lasting another 4-5 years as far as playable value. Even though I have a Wii U and PS3, Xbox 360 is what my kids enjoy the most. Likely will buy another Xbox 360 over the next year or two because mine can't last forever, and I have a feeling when they announce it's end that prices will skyrocket for a while.

Edit: Just realized Xbox 360 is ending production next year. Didn't say when, just 2016. So better grab one quickly. More money.

I'm more of a PS3 man myself. Was more powerful and had more appealing exclusives, IMO. Admittedly, this meant that I pretty much missed out entirely on Halo.

My last console was Sega Mega drive 2. :)
And I do feel I have missed out on some great games. But no regrets.

Ah, the 360. Probably my most-played console ever, with only the XBox 1 (2001) being close, and I still play it occasionally. Many good memories of Halo 3 LANs on the 360, and Halo 2 LANs with both 360s and XBox 1 (2001)'s in system link. Drifted away from the series over time, and 2/3 were the high point for me, but the 360 did a good job of it. Though I am kind of glad it was my friends, and not me, who owned them during the Red Ring of Death years.

Over the later years of the 360's tenure as Microsoft's newest console I drifted away from Halo, though there were occasional H2/H3 LANs, and occasionally even H4. Last year I was still somewhat interested in the MCC, but after the complete mess it was at launch (and yes, I did play it) I lost interest, and didn't care at all for the Halo 5 release this year. The 360, XBox 1 (2001), and PC for Halo 1 will be the Halo machines for me.

Grats to the 360. Keeping a console that long is impressive and a great ROI. Still have my Xbox original with which I've been playing battlefront 1 and 2 recently. I've also managed to retain my N64 which has more than paid it's value. Both systems holding up well.
