i am considering buying a XPS M1710 laptop. however i like the lights on the side and back but was wondering if it is possible to turn these off in the interest of battery life and it they did become annoying?
i have posted this here becasue it is primarily a gaming laptop and so i thought i would get better answers here.
    cheers

I would strongly recommend you consider something other than the XPS M1710. It is outdated and overexpensive. Check out the Clevo M570RU, the Alienware m9750, or the Clevo D900c as good alternatives.
