Ok, since I post here regularly, thought I'd share with everyone, like it or not, that I'm finally a first time dad. Baby is just over two weeks old, and it definitely has its trials and tribulations.
That being said. I am so glad I bought my laptop. It has been a godsend. Our PC's are normally in our finished basement, where wife doesn't want to carry baby up and down stairs yet and also says its too cold down there (we live in Michigan).
Anyhow, been getting in some Crysis and CoD 4 during his naps (which are not as long as I was expecting - sigh), but this Vostro plays it just fine with all on high except shadows and shaders on low (I know that really makes the visual experience better as I tried on my desktop PC for a few minutes when I managed to escape for a bit to our basement).
Anyhow. Just thought I'd share the news and am glad to accept any pointers to living a "normal" life now that we have a baby. Especially if you've had a crabby wife after the birth < ... runs away ... >

I never cared much for kids TBH. Liked spending time with my nieces and nephews but in the end they went home with my sister or siter in law and I was done.
Newborns/infants are a lot of work, but look forward to when he's more interactive, and I can make him into a super genius and NHL hockey star. -
Cool post; I'm debating whether to get COD4 or not, and my specs are the same as yours; looks like I can run it!
How is Crysis online? -
Haven't tried Crysis online yet.
Both CoD 4 and Crysis run like a charm at 1280x800 with graphics dropped down a bit. -
that's awesome, congrats.

Yay - I'm a DAD! (And stuff on laptops and games - Crysis and CoD 4)
