You can always find something to wait for if you want. I'd say screw vista. You should be able to get the same price on a Core 2 Duo (merom) based laptop as on a Core Duo, though. Both will work very well, though. I have a machine with slightly higher specs than what you're looking at (it's probably a Zepto, right? 15.4" or 14.1"?), and it's played everything I've thrown at it. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Does your Dell do what you want it to? If it does i'd say hold on to it until it doesn't. If it doesn't, I'd say upgrade, if you can afford it.
-
Also note that the Core2Duo processors are still limited by the Napa platform. See page 4 of this article: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2808&p=4
If you wait until early next year when the Santa Rosa platform comes out, you'll get more from your processor (though, for gaming, still be limited by the GPU). -
The only thing I'd wait for is Santa Rosa. But if your current laptop isn't cutting it anymore, it's not a huge deal--especially if you're planning on going with a Yonah processor.
My system does everything I ask it for and I expect it will continue to do so for at least 2-3 more years. The HEL80 is the same as the Zepto 2425W if that's what you're looking at. -
i thought it was a good sale, but you recommend me to wait... how long more?
ive been one year waiting. ok tell me one date that u consider good for buying -
I'm not suggesting you wait. I don't think anyone else is either. It's as good a time to buy as any, especially since you plan to get a Yonah there's no reason to wait.

I don't know where you are buying but try to buy it during the holiday season. Prices will be good then.
-
If u need it, then buy it. Or else, it is worth to wait for santa rosa coz of the new N wireless.
-
and what is santa rosa and n wireless?

Santa Rosa is the new Intel Core that'll have 800MHz front side bus.
N wireless refers to the upcoming 802.11n wireless which will have greater range and speed over the current 802.11b/g.
I doubt either is really worth waiting for though if your current laptop is too outdated for you. -
As stated earlier, the faster front side bus on Santa Rosa will make no difference for you if you're going to buy a Yonah--as it can only utilize 667 MHz FSB.
The new wireless is not really needed yet either so you don't need to worry about being "outdated" right out of the box. -
thanks you all, you are being very supportive
last thing... im going to use it for gaming until july of 2008, when i will go to a different city from mine to study law. Im really looking forward to having nice results and using my lappy as a fundamental tool. shall i wait a bit more?? im not gonna wait more than march, will i really notice a price/specs change in the lappy???
