which game would you pick? (no internet access btw)
-
-
I think I'd go with Skyrim. Can I have all the future DLC also?
-
Simcity 4: patched version.
-
-
Baka chooses Super Meat Boy. It might be frustrating enough that Baka would climb a cliff and jump off it to end it all
-
QWOP!
(Might result in a similar fate as Baka and SMB) -
Skyrim, hands down. Theres enough content to keep me satisfied for a looooong time. If it was multiplayer though, BF3.
-
Not a big thinker, skyrim
-
Minecraft probably. If I'm going to be stuck without mulitplayer, I might as well have an endless, creative world to mess around in.
-
Actually, I'd probably choose a flight sim, something like Comanche-Hokum, IL-2 1946 or Falcon 4 if I could have my full HOTAS. I could play those games/sims for days at a time, Falcon 4 especially. Just so varied with each time I play, plus mission builders, etc. I miss having the time to do those things. I literally spent over 24 hours on the course of a weekend (fri night through sun night) flying sorties with Falcon 4. You can easily eat up hundreds if not thousands of hours with it. If you're into that sort of thing.

no internet, aye? I'm gonna have to 2nd: Sim City 4
-
HT has a point. I sank over 300 hours into Flight Sim X in 2008.
-
spider solitaire or some single player poker game
-
Since this is a fictional scenario, I choose Half-Life 3...

Hmm I would probably go with something like Minecraft.
Its not the most entertaining game in the world but its pretty endless and you can put as much time/effort into it as you want.
If you can add mods to it and stuff it has quite a lot of content.
Id also love SC2 but no internet kind of spoils that one, else that would be my choice. -

Non-realistic fiction is that in which the story's events could not happen in real life, because they are supernatural, or involve an alternate form of history of mankind other than that recorded, or need impossible technology. A good deal of fiction books are like this, e.g. Alice In Wonderland and Harry Potter. -
If I remembered to have my ps1 simulator installed, then I would go back to a game that always brings back good memories--FF7
If not, then Flight sim x, I'll dream of flying off the island. -
Typically, Guild Wars
In this case, Minecraft. -
That means a game that I can infinitely replay.
= Heroes of Might & Magic 3
(or 6 if they ever fix some of the worst bugs I've ever seen in a video game)
I can play thousands of games and never, ever get bored. -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Probably Terraria - same concept as bringing Minecraft, but I've never played Minecraft so I can't say which would be better. A great benefit would be having access to future updates as well, but no internet probably means no updates... I guess I'd try to build a large world-sized palace entirely out of Adamantite bricks...

One of the best games ever created and everyone reading this thread who hasn't tried it should right away (Turn-Based Strategy/Fantasy/RPG from 1999).
Another 'plus' of having this game on the island you're trapped on is that you'd have plenty of time to create complex maps using the world creator tool. -
A version of Fritz (based on deep blue) or chessmaster...
Can never get bored! -
To be honest, Skyrim hasn't actually really "wowed" me (my brother has it on his desktop). I'd probably have to go with Warcraft III for infinite replay value in a non-internet game.
-
it was the best mode ever created in any game, and indeed had infinite replay value
I am finding my old HOMM3 copy and installing it right away this weekend
HOMM5 was also good, but nothing is comparable to HOMM3 anywayI didn't try HOMM6 btw, but it looks like a revision of HOMM5, isn't it? (HOMM4 was also good, but the vampires were crooked... killing all the power balance of the game)
-
Within 2 years with better mods and creation toolkit out, the game would look nothing like it does now. Even now the game looks incredibly better with modded 2048x2048 textures and other mods out there, that also tweak the gameplay. So be ready to get wowedI'd take it with me on the island if it has satellite internet to download mods for it
-
I'd pick a game called "Throw a Heavy Object into Some Animal II"
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
doesn't mean much if it's the last game you'll ever play.
-
-
Tetris or Minecraft.
-
Alien Shooter surviver mode. Never makes you board
-
Civilization V!
-
no shame to say this, but with no internet connection. i will go with nba 2k12
because all games i will play in 2k12 are random, and 12mins per quarter. nuff said
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I would choose a MS Flight Simulator X. It's my most played game (some people will get this
). And since time waste wouldn't be an issue for me on an island I would finally fly B767 from Heathrow to JFK non-stop
.
-
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 (the complete IL-2 collection).
-
No Internet = Skyrim, With Internet = Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne (Mostly for DotA)
-
Probably Terraria or Minecraft because shaping a randomly generated world would keep me entertained longer than anything else.
I don't currently play either of these games due to lack of time, but I also got bored with Skyrim in about 5 days so I definitely wouldn't pick that. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Keep in mind, this is the only entertainment you are going to have. Several years is not enough...
Skyrim is probably not a good choice, and having internet doesn't make sense (that's too farfetched of a hypothetical- you would have internet access but couldn't play new games... but you could possibly download new content for games? what's the point of being on the island in this case?)
If you're all about Skyrim because of the longevity of Elder Scrolls III, you're not thinking far enough. That game is from 2002. You could pick the vanilla version or the 2008 modded version, but you're still stuck with what you have.
Civilization and Sim City are deep enough remain interesting indefinitely, because the novelty is in the strategy, which exists in the player.
Story / experiential driven games like Skyrim will break down eventually. -

I say that in all seriousness. -

Some of the better ideas are in this list:
These games have extremely deep gameplay as well as game design:
Minecraft
Terraria (similar to minecraft)
Sim City
Civilization
These are more simple in design, but still have very deep gameplay:

Chess
Tetris -

probably skyrim cause there is so much to do

Or you could have a generator which you brought with you. I guess my point is that if you have internet access, you shouldn't be stuck on an island, period. I could imagine an unlikely scenario in which you are stuck on an island, and yet you have access to a working video game. -

The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
probably Minecraft or some strategy game that would allow good replayability...
-
Man vs Wild
-
plants vs zombies
-
age of empires..
-
Would definitely have to go with skyrim such a big beautiful game.
