Which one of these websites do you think is better for seeing if you can run the game?? In my opinion, gameometer by far.![]()

Both are good options, but I've always gone with the look at the back of the box method.......

I'm a big fan of steam games (no box)...
So, I commonly use the scroll down method from a game's store page. The system requirements are listed at the bottom. Big advocate of steam and scrolling. -
I wouldn't put much stock in those websites at all. There's no way those websites take into account if your games will run well enough on your system for you if purchased.
Read the minimum specs, double or triple them, and/or ask in forums to see what others are getting. -

Exactly, they only basically take the system requirements, and sum all of it up for you, which anyone can do. A games system requirements and how it runs are totally different. GTA 4 lists a 7900GS and a C2D 1.8GHz and 2GB RAM as a minimum, however, i have all of those (FX 570M is about equivalent to the 7900 GS in terms of performance), and my game plays with tons of texture pop up. I think that if major game retailers/developers colaborated with system requirements lab or yougamers, to produce an accurate database of average FPS for certain games on (if possible) all possible hardware configs. Then when people went to check on if a certain game will run on their PC, the engine would calculate a FPS average based on their specific hardware, based on other FPS averages for that game, and this would be for low, medium, and high settings/ultra, in my opinion people could put higher weight on actual FPS averages rather than theoretical performance. A 4 year old engine works like the day it was made, in theory... calculate blowby and you've got yourself a rather inefficient engine producing perhaps 10-20HP less than when first made, of course this can be disregarded with diesels.

Some of the games yougamers reviews have a performance comparison where a few screenshots of various settings ingame are used to provide a yardstick for potential buyers. Unfortunately yougamers doesn't review every game on the market so it's not as widespread as it should be.
