I haven't played too many PC racers, but I'll throw in the ones I've played, which have all been pretty good:

    GTR2
    Race '07
    GT: Revolution
    X-Pand Rally

I'll probably pick up DiRT 2 and maybe the first one at some point, as I loved it on the 360. Going to get Gran Turismo 5 when it finally decides to show up. I really want one of those Logitech G27 steering wheels, but they are $250! Though it must be noted that they are both PC and PS3 compatible so I might pick one up anyways

NFS Shift is my number one, mainly because of the graphics. I can't wait till I get a new computer so I can play that game with everything on high.

don't get fooled, Project64 is made for games like mariokart, zelda, SSB etc.

forgot to mention PGR3, i loved that game. it was 1/2 first games i got when i bought my 360. that and perfect dark zero which i hated and hardly ever played. i sold it like 1-2 weeks after buying.

    For PC

    Dirt 2
    Burnout Paradise Ultimate box
    Need for Speed Shift

Those are my top 3, I plan to try getting into more of the racing sims later on but I find the above more fun and better graphics than the sims.

I'll have to revisit GRID, I hated the controls so much but now I have a wheel it may be better. I think it uses the same presets as Dirt 2, and I had to mess with Dirt 2 controls some too.

I kinda felt NFSS did everything GRID did but better so I never revisited it. Still I guess I should make sure I give it the benefit of the doubt.

I definitely prefer Dirt 2 over all of them though, graphics are top notch and gameplay is intense with good AI and even DX11 support.

Infact if I get game time today thats my goal is to get a video of Dirt 2 up on youtube.

My fav racing game at the moment is forza 3 and is the only reason I still use my xbox 360. On the pc I play dirt 1 and grid. I want to get dirt 2 but it looks very arcadey compared to the first one IMO. I don't have my laptop right now or I would try the demo.

How could you not like rally? :D

I like the game a lot more than just for the type of racing it offers though, I really dig the soundtrack it keeps things going, and the graphics are just insane.

Game crashed on my like 4 times today though :( well my video card did not the game, not sure why. Im affraid I may lose my save data if it crashes during a save. First time having this problem think it was a gpu overheating/stability issue on my desktop.

lol, havent got DiRT 2 but i tried the demo and it seemed as good, if not better then DiRT 1. i loved DiRT 1, nearly got all the achievements on 360 (sorry tho, im not spending my lifetime to drive 1000mi...lol...what kind of achievement is that?!?) version.

forza 3 looked fun, i played it but i havent even completed the second one past 25%, so i wanna play it a lil more b4 i buy forza 3.

looking forward to see how good GT5 will be :)

    1. NFS: Shift
    2. Grid
    3. Dirt 2

The best looking by far is Shift, it's also the more 'serious' of the lot; it needs a wheel (I use a Logitech Momo FF) else it's not playable, atleast for me. I place a premium on graphics for racing games as it's an important element that adds to the 'realism' apart from the usual controls, physics etc. Grid and Dirt 2 have that pseduo-HDR post-processing look that makes them look a little bit 'strange'. Also, Grid and Dirt 2 are great for casual racing, lot's of fun and easy to pick up and play. I play these mostly with the xbox 360 controller.

EDIT: All on my desktop PC; i don't own a console currently.
