Every gpu is different by quality, the silicon wafers are not similar to one another even tough the product is the same

To test this on notebooks i've created this thread. This is also to have a rough estimation on how good the quality of a GPU silicon is from a particular vendor.

GPU-z has new ASIC quality testing. this measures the quality of your GPU silicon sample (higher= less leaks, more quality) :)

In a nutshell, the higher score= less power consumption, cooler, OC's better on air/water/ln2.

YOU HAVE TO USE THE LATEST VERSION OF GPU-Z

    Supported GPU's

    nVIDIA Fermi series (40nm)
    nVIDIA Kepler series (28nm)
    AMD Southern Islands 28nm

Post your GPU ASIC test here (must be done on stock clocks)

    format of submission

[GPU name, memory type, architecture, Vendor, vbios, pci state, single/sli, system, score]

    example

    [GF 9400m, 256mb ddr2, G80, Apple, [vbios], PCI 1.0, Macbook 5.1, single, ASIC xxx%]

    [GTX 580m, 2048mb ddr5, Fermi, Dell, [vbios], PCI 2.0 x16 @ x16 2.0, M17x R3, single, ASIC xxx%]

and with a screenshot (if possible)

For people with dual GPU's post the master card first then the slave/secondary card

Example of one is like this one done on a MSI GTX 580 lightning 1.5gb (good cores are used in top of the line products like the lightning series)

tip: don't hover the ASIC window over the main GPU-z window

I think this has been mentioned before. I tried it, but it gave me some error. Probably due to the switchable graphics.

Same here under Optimus, pita. I drop back to desktop in 3d app, then run HW monitor.

This may be all be a waste of bandwitdth. I'm reading the better grade of "sand" may not clock as high as the power burners.

The score is determined not by the low or high end the GPU is but it measures a GPU silicon production quality

can you post the GPU-z score as well as the card type (vanilla, cyclone 1/2 cooler, etc)

sorry for that dude, we'll have to wait for support on older cards, try updating drivers (that one u have is really old) or bios (vga/system)

or either that evga sample is extremely lucky or a bug in the ASIC test

GPU-Z is able to present an ASIC quality value embedded in the chip at fabrication. I think that's why it only works for Fermi and Southern Island GPUs.
Sure am. Still, have a look at the P330 owner's thread. Everyone so far has gotten over 90%.

Does gpu-z support kepler yet? If yes, please post some 600-series ASIC test :D

^^ that means that the HD 7000 series (28nm) would be compatible with ASIC test. I wonder of anybody has the HP DV6/7 with the 7000-series can do an ASIC test

woah dude, didn't know about that.

It's stated several places that that's the case (HD 7800 series and above), but I just tried checking the ASIC quality on a stock Sapphire 7970 card and it failed. One thing to note is that the card was running an outdated driver (preview I think) in case such things even affect it.

Possibly my bad. I might have forgotten to set the correct GPU in GPU-Z. Can't know for sure since I installed the latest driver before reading the ASIC Quality.

    [Radeon HD 7970, 3072MB GDDR5, Tahiti, Sapphire, [015.012.000.004.000346 (113-C3860100-100)], PCI-E 3.0 x16 @ x16 3.0, single, ASIC 64.7%]
