Thanks for the submission, btw that's a BEAST you got there :O
^_^ relax, it's a good score. also the 485M is still pretty good at gaming, so you shouldn't worry
-
-
Dont worry it's tamed
. I actually just got a 580M SLi, I'll test it out tonight and post the ASIC Quality.
-
still waiting :/
-
My bad, I just got my thermal pads today. I'm currently testing it's stability since it shutdown on me a couple of times. I'll post it later when I have time.
-
Will be waiting
-
LOL, now I'm waiting for users who won't buy ANY laptop that does not meet 100% ASIC
-
Gonna be a lot of disappointment if that's the case. Most of the notebook GPU's are not going to be made from the higher quality wafers. Those finer wafers are reserved for higher end cards made by the top manufacturers. Basically the MSI Lightning, Asus Matrix, EVGA Classified series of cards have priority on these high integrity chips.
-
Actually it measures structural integrity of the wafers. Those with a lower integrity are more prone to electrical leakage thus allowing lower possible clock speeds.
-
it's very unlikely that you will get 100% ASIC on a notebook
actually, i've seen a classified with a lower ASIC than a standard (reference model) on geeks3d reviews. -
No surprise there. I'm sure they have to use lower quality chips as well.
-
but how can the program measure structural integrity? is it included information in the chip's firmware?
-
Yes. The program can't measure the structural integrity. It simply reads a value that was embedded in the chip at fabrication.
-
This is a better way to phrase what I meant to say.

Here is mine for my MSI Twin Frozr III GeForce 560 Ti 448 Core Edition:
-
[GTX 580, 1536MB GDDR5, Fermi, Asus DirectCU II, [70.10.17.00.00 (P1261-0002)], PCI-E 1.1 x16 @ x16 1.1, single, ASIC 76.0%]
-
That's what I was thinking too but an article posted on page one says gpu -z actually measures the electrical leak from the gpu chip. I'm wondering how valid and measurable this electrical leakage is.
Sent from my samsung galaxy s2 using tapatalk -
The value is encoded into the chip during the manufacturing stage. The only problem is the interpretation, which is done by GPU Z in this particular case.
-
83.1% - NVS 4200 (with GT 520 drivers) on my Latitude E6520.
Very impressed with the card by the way. I usually run it at 1000/900/2000 mhz if I need to stress it.
-
Guys sorry for being dead for a while, I was on a family trip with absolutely no internet!
Also GPU-Z 6.0.0 is out, please download latest version.
Added to list
nice, added. btw is this the asus MATRIX or just DIRECTCU II?
1GHz??? 0_0
Wait, is the nvs 4200 some kind of a quadro card? added to list -
DirectCU II.
-
You think THAT's an old card, just look at mine!
For those of you that don't know, the FireGL V5200 is the workstation version of the Radeon X1600. And yes, I'm still running Windows XP. My card doesn't even officially support Windows 7! You have to install the Windows Vista drivers under Windows 7 to get it to work properly... Oh ATi, ლ(ಠ益ಠლ
y u no support your cards after only 2-3 years?! (They dropped support in 2008 IIRC).

Aww thanks! Then again, I don't play too many newer games anyway (old-school 8-bit and 16-bit emulators FTW!), so its no big deal for me... yet.Mobius 1 said: ↑

I just installed the latest GPU-Z and my ASIC rating has not changed so just FYI.

what exactly is the max ASIC quality? How does a 104.9% quality even make sense (yknyong1).Attached Files:

Oh this test is almost as worthless as the "WEI." Sure ASICs have varying quality, and sure they're going to have variable ability to overclock. But really? A program I can download to tell me just how good an overclocker my chip is?
Sigh...benchmarkers.

Probably just a fault in the manufacturing process
Yeah, I know. Still, it's funGreg said: ↑Oh this test is almost as worthless as the "WEI." Sure ASICs have varying quality, and sure they're going to have variable ability to overclock. But really? A program I can download to tell me just how good an overclocker my chip is?

I just hope this "fun" doesn't result in some newbie reading this thread, downloading the "benchmark," and trying to return his notebook because his perfectly functional GPU only has a 48.7% rating
.
Now a more useful application might be a program that helps you achieve the maximum stable overclock
.
