Starcraft is always good classic, I haven't played the sequel yet though.

C&C 3 was also pretty cool, especially the Kanes Wrath expansion, loved the return of ultimate units.
-
Total Annihilation hands down.
-
Command and Conquer: Generals (and Zero Hour) (and Shockwave v0.95 mod)
Axis and Allies (2004)
World in Conflict
Soviet Assault)

i don't know it was quite a painfull playthrough
-
Total Annihilation and its spiritual successor, Supreme Commander.

The thing is, I've played classic games. The original SMB is painful to play now. Warcraft as well. StarCraft is different. It's still very playable and and the story is enjoyable if you can get past the graphics not being uber-high resolution 3D. Very few games of that vintage can say that. Starcraft isn't one of those classic games because people have fonder memories of it than it deserves. It's one of those classic games because it is just that good. If you like RTSs and value gameplay over graphics, I find it hard to believe that someone doesn't even at least have a respect for Starcraft.
-
Well i will give it another shot, the thing that bothered me most were the graphics, and I will try to get over that
-
Have to say Warhammer Dark Omen is the greatest RTS of all time for me.
Shame that I have found no other game that provides a very similiar experience. The newer sequal was just not as good. -
What about Rise Of Nations and it's expansion?
I really like the idea of going from totally nomadic to ultra modern with the stealth bombers
-
Actually, not Rise of Nations...what about Empire Earth? That kinda paved way for Rise of Nations I think.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I loved that game! so many lan parties -
I have been playing for a few years online to Supreme Commander : Forged Alliance with the absolutely amazing Black Ops Mod (that you can find on GPGnet forum).
Supcom 2 was a left down but it really doesn’t matter. The mod community is improving the game so much that me and my friends couldn’t really enjoy the limits of SC2 (which is also an amazing game I agree).
You can make so many new tactics, attack from deep sea, from space, teleport, use artillery from the other side of the planet. You can win by the turtle tactic or be aggressive, you can add seatlth to all your units or even be invisible. In large multiplayer you can make large strategy and put objective on the battlefield for your allies.
Also the nuke strategy is so amazing, you need to make strategical strike to the nuke defense in order to wipe a whole base. But you can also hide the nuke defense and make a trap for your enemy.
With today’s computer, you can have thousands of units/buildings on the field and the game is improving as the hardware evolve.
The mods don’t only bring new units.
They also added so many new ideas to the game. Giant robots equipped with drones, giant air transport carrier which can drop EMP nukes in order to stun a base while landing units…
And the Bassilisk, the most incredible experimental unit you can find!
It’s a shame Chris Taylor cannot continue this franchise but the mod community is really incredible, give it a try . -
What do you mean by this?
-
Yep!!!
Really loved them. -
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
Cossacks franchise ... all of the Cossacks series games "to me" are the best online games I have ever played
-
What about LOTR?
Not tried myself, but friends say they enjoy it a lot. -
I have a feeling my favourite will be Cnc3 when this mod has been installed onto it (if they ever get to actually releasing it).
