So i though i wanted to make a thread like this, what would you´re ideal zombie game be like?
What i would love from a zombie game is:
1) A huge world free to explorer
2) Very prominent survival features, like you need to scavenge for food/water/weapons so that sometimes you just have to be very careful and spontaneously grab a stick to try and fight of a zombie that is in the way of some supply´s
3) Shelter, i would love for a game the would have the feature to build shelter that you could be in at night and then go out in the day, and such. I would love to be able to build different shelter out of different stuff wherever i wanted it to be!
4) Other survivors trying to survive and taking stuff from you and such!
5) increasing numbers of zombies, So in the beginning there might not be too many zombies, but then after some time the number of the living dead would increase.
6) never ending, all my other points would be invalid if you werent able to play for as long as you wanted!
So yeah, those are some of the things i would love to have in a zombie game, im hoping that Dead Island can provide some of them, but well see.
How bout you guys, what would you´re zombie game be like?`

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii. Vastly under-rated on-rails shooter, IMO beats any and all on-rails shooters out there.
Me and the wife have put in over 60 hours in one savegame playing it coop. For 13€, that's good value too

Yeah that is good value, But what would YOU´RE perfect zombie game be like? I mean what would you want in a zombie game? -
Basically like Terraria, just a lither less digging, a bit more urban-survival-moving-to-the-mountains-to-build-ultimate-holdout-till-all-zombies-die kinda game
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Yeah that would actually be cool! And then with realistic graphics, i could see that being a great game!

Sounds AMAZING! Just what i wanted, i think... But when will it be released? And how high will the quality be of the gameplay, graphics and mechanics?
-
Ah, I see.
Well, the critical-hit mechanics of Umbrella Chronicles are downright perfect IMO, so let's keep that (to those who don't know: you have to hit a very specific spot a bit above the eyes, on the center; it's damn hard, but with loads of practice it can be done).
Several game-modes must exist:
- On-rails, like above. Obviously, with better graphics than the Wii (although you'd be surprised by the graphical quality of Umbrella Chronicles, not half bad).
- FPS-like, with ability to do co-op anyway. Player 1 moves and shoots, player 2 only shoots. Real-life weapons with lots of customization abilities.
- Tower Defense or bunker mode, again with co-op possibilities. You should be able to man a huge mortar or machine gun and blast away.
- No-weapons mode, which would mean you have to resort to martial arts, like in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (basically a 3D beat-em-up).
With all of these I might consider parting with 40-50 euros for the game

I would really like to see a story-driven fps/rpg style zombie game, something with depth, that so far most zombie games lack (kill zombie, move forward, repeat). Maybe something like:
- You're part of a group of survivors held up in a mall/community centre
- You have to defend this 'base'
- You go out to scavenge, discovering new locations/possibilities
- If you find somewhere better than the current 'base', you're group of survivors can migrate there
- You have to ability to upgrade the defenses of your base, primarily through scavenging for say scrap metal or tyres
- As you find new survivors they can join your group, making your group stronger, which in turn could allow for you to explore more dangerous areas that would not be feasible with just one person
Basically, I want:
- Fallout 3 style inventory/levelling up etc
- Dead Rising 2 style weapons (in the sense that you can pick up almost anything, not that it disintegrates after a couple of hits!)
- Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood style story (aka good) and good mix of linear/non-linear gameplay. You get put on a path but at certain points you have the option to explore. I find this balance keeps me interested, if a game is purely sandbox (Just Cause 2), I find the lack of structure leads to boredom if i'm not being pushed towards some kind of goal. (although JC2 is pure lolz)
So yeah, that's my kinda Zombie game

That sounds like a game that i would buy!
Though its not what i intended in "my" zombie game, it sounds great!
But the thing i was really looking for was the large world freeroam/survival type ordeal. And That website mentioned earlier sounds AWESUM! just too bad that it most likely wont be released in the nearest future... -
Yeh I was really hoping Dead Island would be more than just another Zombie FPS but it doesn't look so promising anymore.
Developers are more concerned with what will sell the most, as opposed to what we actually want to play. If another FPS is gona make them richer (or at least break even
) then they don't care what we want.
Business is business afterall

Indeed, that is so true. Which is actually really sad! I think if a company actually went out there and REALLY listened to the community and made a non standard game they would get alot of support! Just unfortunate that no developer seems to be doing that : / -
I think Bethesda is probably one of the exceptions. They have taken onboard many ideas from popular Oblivion mods and included them in Skyrim.
But yes, if I was rich enough i'd pay a games company to produce the game I wanted

yeah that would be great, that might be something to say in the "what would you do with 50 million dollars" thread!

First off I LOVE ZOMBIES and anything to do with zombies.
my perfect would basically be "I Am Legend-the movie" sorta but in game form but instead of these uber zombies(infected) or w.e
I think the character you controll would have to be a free runner or something similar
The zombies out in the day would be slow and stupid i.e Dead rising
but at night time they were faster and more powerfull i.e left for dead
Vehcles are a must but you should be made to stop for fuel. wich should be a reward or just something that is hard to come bye
I think mabe if you had to set up a survival camp/"base" or something and recruit people by saving them from zombies and you had to protect your "base" every night but the more people you recruited ment that you didn't need to defend it or something.
open world is a must.
and some rpg features upgrading and stuff
EDIT: i just read what Blazin wrote and yeh basically that -
I'm guessing you watched Breaking Bad last night. They had an argument over the best zombie video game.
They argued over: L4D, Resident Evil 4/5, World At War - Zombie mode, and maybe another game I can't remember. -
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
ohh i dident, i actually dont know what that show is : / -
It's a Chemistry teacher turn drug manufacturer type of drama. Pretty good IMO.
