my parents bought me a school computer, dell latitiude D630 with an X 1300 graphics acceleratot video card.. is it possible for me to play decent games at all or do i have to buy a new computer? i tried installing battlefield 2142 and it cant run because of the graphics card

You won't be able to play any new games that require a dedicated GPU. Crysis, Bioshock, World in Conflict etc will all be out of the question.

Well, the 8600m GT will run fine on low-med res with low-med details for crysis. Just don't expect it run 50+fps, but 15-30 is do-able.

The Dell Latitude 630 is a well built business notebook. Even though it is not a gaming machine, it is more solid and of higher quality than many mainstream gaming notebooks. If it is any consolation -
i am thinking of getting an 8800 GTX sli notebook for gaming and this one is only for schoolwork

Get a desktop...u already own a notebook...why waste more money?
for example i have a notebook with integrated graphics..enough for decent gaming like CS, CS:source, Halo, HL2 ,
This X'Mas i m building a desktop with 8800 ....
what do u think about that? -
8800 GTX SLI will cost you well over $3,000. you should def go for a desktop. it's a lot cheaper and you wont have sweaty hands playing BF2142 from warm palmrests.
a computer with intel X1300 grapgics accelerator
