Well that plus the DDR2 in itHey you cant get cheap good stuff

By the way for around 500$ more ($1899) you get 1.8ghz and a 8700gt DDR3
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8403569&type=product&id=1180743303867
and an HD drive... -
The 8700's memory is running@700Mhz right in that toshiba X205-s7483? Try to ask some one who has a DDR2 8600 to overclock that high and see if he/she fries the card...
-
That Best Buy X205 is just to sucker in the average Joe that thinks he/she is getting a great deal.
The CPU is only 1.66GHz, 256MB DDR2 8700m, 1440x900 screen, no HD-DVD drive.
This machine is not much better than your average laptop at a similar cost, and is a fat 17" to boot. -
Did I just post the screenshot of the GDDR clocks?
-
it's 625/700......
-
that's what i want to say... don't think ddr2 can do that high unless toshiba has volt-modded + water-cooled the card's memory...
-
I'll post the screenshot again for those who didn't read the last few pages....
-
Ok. Gotcha. DDR2 can't do 700 MHz (350MHz x 2)?
-
I'll run 3dmark06 and tell you guys the results.
-
edit:
from the 1520 review:

Here are the 3dmark results! 163.71 drivers btw.

its gotta be ddr3 i dont think in 3dmark 06 ddr2 could do that kind of score. what resolution was that at please?? thanks man for the time on this
-
default 1280x854.
-
was that the free version? i thought the free version was 1280 x 1050 or am i wrong, that score i am not sure of at 1280 x 854 though?? i do mean the 3dmark resolution setting not the current laptop one...
-
do the 1280*1024 test, it's the default one...ur score is gonna be lower, but no worries, not too low
-
lol I tried to change but remember my laptop has a limit on the res! 1400x900 remember?
-
yes thats the one i want to see.. i know the clevo with ddr3 does around 4300 or so on that resolution according to xotic pc.. thanks again man id rep you some more but it will not let me lol..
-
wow then it should be the 1280 x 1024 test .. if so that score is great...
-
To get an accurate 3DMark score on a widescreen computer, you either need to hook it up to a standard aspect screen, or approximate it with a 1440x900 test. The 1280x800 test will give you bloated scores.
-
I'll try that then will do
-
i thought the free test only gave you the option of 1280 x 1024 ?? or am i wrong???
-
yeah, i think so, that's what most people say...i got a pro version though...
i do, however, run it in 1280*1024...can't really see the full bottom part, but who cares?! haha -
is it the x205 with the sli option?
-
oh and it's off the Basic version.
-
dude, i know, the screen would not physically be able to do it(i got a 1280*800 screen myself but still run it in 1024), but just run the test in that res and that's it
-
according to the anandtech review of the higher end 59 model it did 4299 but your res was scaled down a bit so id def say you have ddr3..
-
also from doing a google search you are getting pretty much exactly the same as the 49 models i am able to find everywhere online at the same res so id say you are def ddr3 without a doubt
-
If it was scaled down the score is not far behind....so we all know the end result.
-
no i mean at the same res you ran it at the highest i saw was just over 4600 and average was around 4300 - 4500
-
that's good to hear
-
Is this deal online only? I may go to BB and see how "huge" they really are. I was there today but didn't pay any attention to it.
-
no its not but 2 of our local best buys said online they had them and when i got there they didnt have any..
-
its pretty good and the screen doesn't even come close to my 1520, another downside i've seen
about the new toshiba best buy x205
