Hello, I am new here. I have an ABS mayhem, G4 revolution that I bought a couple of years ago and the gpu ( a Nvidia Geforce go6600) is dead. Now this laptop has both a built in video card like your standard plain jane laptop and the 6600 with an exterior switch to switch between gpu's. The built in gpu still works but the 6600 no longer works at all.

I obviously need a new card, but I have a few questions. First off, does anyone know if there are any unique installation requirements for a notebook with this kind of gpu setup? Does anyone have any experience with this model of notebook, any advice that you can lend me? As far as I know ABS no longer even sells laptops and my warranty has long since expired.

Lastly Is it possible to get a newer card, (yes I read the big sticky thread about upgrading a gpu, I didnt find an answer) say a go6800?

Id just like to know what my options are and if there are any nasty surprises waiting for me when I replace my card.

    ~John.

From everything I have read you can only replace video with the same video. I did a quick search on ebay and could only find 1 go6600. I've never swapped out a video card on a laptop before so I don't know if you are in for any surprises, but from the sounds of things its similar to doing the cpu. Good luck.

im thinking youwould be able to ypgrade or swap to any GPU that was available in that laptop at that time, you would have to contact ABS and find out.
