what are acceptable temperatures for the GPU and CPU?
mine normally are 37C CPU and 61C GPU EDIT: the GPU somehow downclocked and now its at 58C

I ran crysis and the GPU went up to around 76-77C

    Is that normal?

I want to overclock my GPU, and so when I overclock, what are acceptable temperatures?

This was done with a sager NP2096 by putting it on a wooden desk surface. (I thought the np2096 was supposed to have good cooling?)

Second the above suggestion, also if you see CPU temperatures in excess of 90 degrees and the GPU doing over 80 you need to move quickly if you wish to keep a working notebook.

well, ive seen my GPU go up to around 91 celcius... It died after a year and a half (last week) but who knows what caused that, could be the high temps, could be the known defect in most of the 8xxx series nvidia GPU, could be anything that caused it to die. I dont overclock, I use the notebook as it was originally designed to run so i dont see there being any problem in getting above 90C since asus designed it like this.

i think 85 is a limit for me. i wonder how high i can get my clocks to without going past 85.

In short, because no one has come out and said it, those temps are fine.

my gpu hits 100, although i have a g1s (bad cooling design + 8600m GT + overclock = lol for cooling). But i've never had any problems due to the card overheating. running almost 15 months now.

    im sure 77 is fine
