i've asked in another post for x1400 benchmarks, and all i get is "it's bettter than xxx, and worse than xxx"
that's the same way with the GPU guides.
they help a little, but that's just it.
who else wants to see actual benchmarks comparing cards?
as my sig states, i just got a new lappy!
Originally i wanted to get the soon to come out MSI 1039 (has x1600 256mb)
but gave in due to the dell $750 coupon (and not knowing final price of MSI)
I know the x1600 is significantly better, but just how much
i mean, will the x1400 be fine for my needs?
i've searched all over the i-net, but can't find much on mobile GPU benchmarks
    does anyone know better?
    thanks

I've looked for a long time and came up with nothing. I'm getting the X1400 because I figured it was a safe bet for a mid-range card. Let's hope I'm right lol.

its got around 2000 plus on 3dmark05 according to most benchmarks i've seen. i wouldn't really call it a mid range card as its performance is less than the previous generation mid range card eg x700. but it will be enough for todays games and maybe for 2 years. i dun really based much on 3dmark scores as its just a benchmark. some games run better on some cards eg opengl and direct3d run better on certain cards.

Yeah, it gets around 2k - that's the highest I have seen. The Acer 5672 gets around 1700. Either way, the X1400 is a nice replacement to ATI's X600, which was much outdated.

Absolutely. 3DMark0X is synthetic - not real. I use them as more of . . guidelines for GPU performance, they basically just show where the GPU sits in comparison to others. The real test is games. OpenGL vs. Direct3D definitely makes a difference - the Go6600 will kill the X700 in Doom 3, but in Half-Life 2, the X700 is faster.

I say get the X1600. Cards like the X1400 wont be impressive at all in a year or two's time

Hey, arent certain games also developed for certain systems. Correct me if I'm off, but Im pretty sure that ATI timed the release of thier new graphics card to coincide with the release of half life two. The early editions I think even said that they were designed for ATI cards. I Think crunching the 3dmark scores are better because then you get a level playing field.

Games can be developed with a certain companies' cards, yes. HL2 and Doom 3 are good examples.
